Hotel Waldeck is a nice forest-lodge style guesthouse at the edge of Todtnau, 1 km from the center of town. Our room (3-bed-room) was very large, with many windows on two different sides, to let air and light inside (although lighting was a bit dim). The bathroom was also huge. The room was nicely equipped, with a small safe, refrigerator, and a flat screen TV. The mattresses were okay. The hotel has a nice restaurant, offering an excellent breakfast included in the price (we paid 35 euro/person/night). There is also an option for "Halbpension", meaning a fixed-price dinner. This proved to be incredible value: I had a fish with freshly made noodles and spinach and a tomato soup - all for a meager 7 euro! Service was very friendly, both from the owners and from the staff. The guests during our stay (weekend in June) were all elderly, average age 60... So it's no party zone but very nice. There is a bus station just outside the hotel, but I would still recommend arriving with a car. We went hiking in the surroundings (Feldberg) and didn't have the time, but the Rodelbahn above Todtnau looks fantastic, and is supposed to be one of the best in Germany. Todtnau is also a great biking destination.
