What a wonderful discovery this small hotel with a lot of charm! The owner of the place... was extremely kind and full of good tips and attention! Clean rooms, lunch... a shelf! A wonderful weekend!

In the black forest a place full of serenity

Beautifully located in the Münster Valley, Hotel Garni with very nice and friendly hosts. A delicious breakfast in an old wall with very dedicated staff. A nice comfort room with plenty of space and very clean.

Very friendly, nice and family friendly.

The Old Monastery Mill is very beautifully located at the foot of the monastery of Saint Trudpert. The bus stop is right in front of the door. It is a perfect starting point for hikes/excursions etc. It is a very old house with lots of wood and carpet floors. The furnishings are simple, rustic but comfortable. We might have wished for more hooks and garbage bags and a larger garbage can in the bathroom. Also, two curtains before the toilet and before the bathroom would be practical and would be more private. There are enough storage facilities and staff space. Toller shower strap. Femer works well. Hand towels and bedding are very clean. After cleaning/room cleaning services etc. Rooms are cleaned and cleaned. The manager has quickly adjusted to a larger waste bin in the bathroom. Also, two curtains before the toilet and before the bathroom would be convenient and would provide more privacy. There are enough storage facilities and staff room. Femer shower strap. Femer works well. Hand towels and bedding are very clean. After cleaning/Rooms service etc.

Great location, old walls, good coffee!

We liked the hotel's location with the special flavor of the old monastery mills. The young operators were also very friendly. But they still had to learn to eat breakfast. It was uncomfortable that we had to re-order jam, butter, milk every morning. Wurst and cheese were enough for one person. Not necessarily for two. And instead of just bread, a slice of black bread would have been nice. And maybe a yogurt? But, there was an egg and fruit for everyone!

The weekend

We were with our family for an extended weekend in the Old Monastery Mill and we all felt very comfortable around. Our four adult children were staying in a generously decorated apartment and we had a cozy DZ. We could even enjoy the delicious breakfast outside! There is a whole special atmosphere in the house with the great location where also dirk hiking trails start. The friendly Schmidt family and the nice rooms have made it possible for us to stay in a richly beautiful apartment. We will be back and we would very much like to recommend the Old Monastery Mill!

Very friendly, cozy and well-groomed accommodation

Lovely breakfast in the morning with the most delicious cheeses and yogurts. Hotel staff went out of their way to help me recover my credit card left there. Also very helpful with what to do in the area. Something to keep in mind... This is a family business and therefore there isn't someone on staff 24/7. 

Quaint and quiet

The hotel is right next to the monastery and we were actually going to book a hotel further down in the valley. But it turned out to be more like luck. We arrived and were disappointed to call for the first time, but only briefly. After a short time, the caring staff was there. We were warmly received and determined that we would be accommodated in a historic house. We were given an introduction to the building and where breakfast is prepared. Furthermore, we were given the passport that allows us to use public transportation free of additional costs during our stay. The room was very well maintained, spacious and we had the monastery directly in view. Since the hotel is located close to the street, the traffic also caused us to choose a different way of breakfast. The early morning bed was very good for us to compare with other hotels.

A weekend in the southern Black Forest

The place is very nice, the hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious. The manager is very nice, listening with a sense of welcome.

Nice typical hotel

We stayed for one night in this building which proved to be cozy and clean. The building emits that sense of the past which makes it very interesting, the rooms are equipped with good comfort. The staff are friendly and welcoming. It is in a quiet area near the city of Freiburg.

Quiet area

Nice little Garni hotel, with very nice & helpful staff. I can't judge the rooms since we were staying in the annex building in the massetette apartment. This was tip top.....! The breakfast offered is very good with everything you need. We're happy to come back....
