A family run budget Hotel, close to the Train Station.  We had booked a triple bed room, which was basic,  fairly big, clean and comfortable. English speaking, friendly staff. The complementary breakfast was also good.  Full value for the money. Very good for budget conscious travelers.

Hotel Schemmer is a family run hotel which is ideal for the budget-conscious traveller. The rooms are clean and we slept really well on good beds. Our highlight of the day was the wonderful breakfast which consist of a variety of cereals, breads, eggs and a selection of cold meats and cheeses. Added to this is orange juice, coffee, home made jams, fresh fruit and chocolates...really good! The hotel is conveniently located near bus stops, trams and the main train station, but one can easily reach the old town by foot. Angela and Michaela were fantastic - they were very helpful , friendly and always willing to give directions and helpful hints. There are two supermarkets close by, as well as takeaway outlets. All rooms have internet access. If I ever visit Freiburg again, I will definitely stay at Hotel Schemmer.

Home from home

Short stay at Freiburg

Pros: very clean room, great breakfast, friendly staff, close to train station (our reason as our train left before 6 AM) close to several restaurants and bars, close to tram, very reasonably priced.
Cons: not all rooms have bathrooms and the showers and toilets are located off stairway landings, no elevator, no internet connection past the second floor (I thought this was pretty bad, as it was advertised and repeaters for wifi are cheap and easy to install)

Mid range hotel that could use some updates

We chose this hotel for its location to the train station and also that it included breakfast.  We were only there one night and it worked out very well for us. The room was sufficient, clean and had everything we needed.   The bathroom was in the room, but seemed like it once was a sun porch or add on.   The breakfast room was spacious and decorated with table cloths.   The coffee and food was good and nicely displayed.
