Schwarzwald-Idyll

Oberhamersbach stretches through a beautiful valley for 12km and has many little hotels. This one lies quite far up the valley, and offers idyllic views. It is a classic country hotel, with surprisingly modern and comfortable rooms, family run and with great service. The hotel has a lift. The hotel has a little trout farm, so obviously the main choice on the menu is fresh trout, which comes in every variation. I had baked trout, which was very good. My room was very spacious (almost like a little suite) and supremely comfortable beds. I had an excellent night's sleep. The room also had a large balcony. Although motorbikes whiz by regularly it was still possible to enjoy a relaxing sunny afternoon. I stayed here while doing the Westweg. The Gasthof in Hark (on the trail) was full, so the obvious choice was to stay in Oberhamersbach. This hotel lies about 6.5km away from the main trail, but they offer a transfer service if you call them when you reach Hark. They also offer luggage transfer at an extra charge. Free internet access is available (my room was too far away from the router, so I did not get a signal). I did have good phone signal on my mobile, despite of being in a valley. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the friendly hospitality at this hotel.
