Maison d'Hôtes Villa Mon Repos

We stopped for just one night at Mon Repos. It would have been nice to stop for more. Essentially it is a very characterful B+B which is very welcoming and well run. We arrived late but I contacted the owners beforehand and they waited up for us. I can speak French but the owners speak very good English. The building is set in a small village, just outside Dieppe. It is alongside a fast flowing stream, and on the opposite bank is an old mill. It is quite an old building, set in some gorgeous gardens. Probably a walker's paradise! It is set back from the road and there is plenty of parking available. Our luggage was making a chinking noise as he helped us upstairs with our cases. Coffee cups - honest and maybe a bottle of wine. The owner picked up on this and led us to an upstairs landing where there was a fridge, some wine glasses and a corkscrew thoughtfully laid on for visitors. The room was quirkily decorated and furnished but it had everything we needed and would be comfortable for an extended stay. Indeed it had its own private corridor with a second room also available with a bathroom in between. Wifi was provided and had a good speed. Breakfast was served along a long communal table with the other guests. Very convivial and with home made flans and jams, it was way better than most breakfasts we get in France. I still needed to explain how to make tea properly in the British way. They appreciated that we had voted against Brexit and remain very strongly opposed to it. I feel that we had a lot in common there! So, if you are considering spending time in Dieppe, forget all the nearby chain run hotels and stay here instead. It was very good and very much merits a full five blobs.
