Fantastic 2 weeks. Hosts were so welcoming, sharing knowledge of area without being intrusive. The Gites had everything you would need or want. Superb well maintained grounds and pool, lots of amenities is you wanted to use them. The best , quiet relaxing holiday I have had in years. Congratulations Philip and Sandrine on providing such a wonderful holiday experience. I will return!!

We stayed here with family over two gites and it was lovely. Our two-year-old had so many things to play with, safely around the pool, with Phil and Sandrine providing stair gates, booster seats, bed guards etc so we felt very comfortable having him running around! The setting was beautiful and calming, it was comfortable and very well placed for chateaus and local villages etc. Even after forgetting some items at the end of our holiday, Phil & Sandrine arranged for posting back to the UK and were unbelievably helpful. Wonderful hosts and a beautiful holiday.

What a beautiful place this is…we took two out of the three gîtes to enjoy a family holiday.  Each was very well presented, cosy, comfortable with every possible item you need to have a lovely holiday.  Our hosts Phil and Sandrine could not have been more welcoming and helpful.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Lovely week spent here with family. Gites are beautiful, well equipped and very comfortable. The gardens are large with lots to do, games, pool, bbqs. Our hosts were both very welcoming and helpful. We would highly recommend 

Perfect experience from the moment we enquired, we were sent helpful photographs of the facilities to ensure fit our needs and were given lots of support. 

When we arrived we were so happy, it’s a beautiful tranquil place with excellent facilities, we have a 18month old and there was everything you need. Blackout blind in bedroom, cot, stairgrates, highchairs, toys for the house and the pool. We enjoyed every minute and hope to return in 2025. Our 18 month old loved the pool and paddling pool, trampoline and running around the extensive  ground. The location is great - we did day trips to Blois, Amboise, Tours and Montrichard whilst stopping off at the chateaus and vineyards. We used the complimentary bikes with too, the toddler seat was so comfortable our little one fell asleep! 

Phil and Sandrine were so kind and helpful, we really enjoyed meeting them and their English is perfect. Thank you for such a wonderful trip and the happy memories made at Bocages, we can’t wait to return.

This was our first week of three driving 1500 miles in France from the ferry at Roscoff..  We were two couples in two English open top sports cars.  We chose Les Bocages for its facilities.  Swimming Pool, BBQ and secure off-road parking as priorities.  The facilities are good and the owners who are onsite had the right touch of being welcoming and available when needed.  They are a charming couple with excellent English. The outdoor amenities are really quality and would clearly be good for families as well as single couples.  Chateaus, the market at Ambois and Blois all within easy driving range giving days out and days in around the pool as good options for the week.  We intend revisiting in 2024.

Our group of 3 families were pleasantly surprised by the vast, lush gardens and plenty of space for each family in the cottages. The pool was a welcome retreat at the end of the day and the kitchen was well stocked with all the things we needed. Also the yard had a lot of toys to keep the kids busy, and lovely chickens!  We loved the peace and quiet of the area, the lovely town and the warm and inviting owners. We very much hope to come back and highly recommend Les Bocages for those looking for a home base in the Loire Valley.

We had the pleasure of staying in the cottage known as Les Rosiers.  There are three Gites at Les Bocages. We stayed for a week in September. up the hill out of the village, but not a long walk to the local bakery. I ran there and back. Julie and Jeremy are lovely. They had one chicken that gave us a fresh egg every day - fab. Banjo the dog is lovely. After a long day touring the loire valley, we liked nothing better than sitting in our little garden, drinking wine from Vouvray winery or the. Coteaux, which is just up the road (couple of mile) Eating food from the market e.g. Amboise. A bit of sun, a dip in the pool and the peace.

So glad we decided to,spend a week,with friends at Les Hortensias.We could not fault our stay,and were made very much at home by Jeremy and Julie.The gite was perfect,rustic, but had everything that we needed.Beautiful gardens,very peaceful.Short walk into the village to get the bread in the morning.General store and butchers.Liked everything so much we are considering to return. A big hug for Banjo, we all fell in love with him.


We stayed in Les Rosiers. It was perfect. Really comfortable bedroom and bathroom with good punchy shower. Loved the bikes on the beam!
The kitchen is well-equipped and the open plan area is ideal and spacious. Great BBQ and little terrace and lovely to have the pool on a warm day.

We had a mix of sun and rain in May, top local tips for rain included the Troglodyte homes and the Clos de Luce chateau - Leonardo da vinci was amazing.
Also had a wonderful trip on the Loire kayaking, we were the only people the whole day, so peaceful and a super strong current to carry us home was perfect.

Perfect place for a May holiday

Had a fantastic time. Owner v welcoming and helpful. Gite v clean and well supplied with washing machine, dish washer and cooking utensils. Pool lovely size and well maintained. Ideal location for visiting amboise, chenonceau, chambord, blois and chaumont as well as amazing Beauval zoo. Very relaxing location in small village with boulangerie and close to good supermarket. Would definitely stay here again if staying in Loire area again. 

Holidaying in loire

We stayed here in les Rosiers during our second week of cycling along the 'Vélo a loire' cycle routes. Our first gite near Saumur had been a bit of a disappointment being quite cramped with a shared small courtyard, no dishwasher or washing machine and a two ring ikea cooker. So we were delighted when we arrived here to find a lovely big sitting room, spacious bedroom, 4 ring cooker with separate wall mounted oven and microwaves, dishwasher, washing machine and a lovely spacious open garden area leading down to the pool.

The location between Amboise and Blois is great for exploring the Loire by bike from although the better tracks and quiet roads are along the south bank, but the bridge at Chaumont is only a six km easy ride away and if you've brought your own bikes it's easy to cheat and pop them on the back of the car and drive over the river and park up in one of the many villages on the south side all of which have free car parking areas.

Monteaux village is easy walking or you can borrow a bike from the gite, and it has a lovely boulangerie for fresh bread every morning, a small alimentation, a very 'french' cafe bar, a post office and a hairdressers. Onzain, 6 km away has a 'Casino' supermarket and a Lidl and Blois and Amboise offer everything. Great Sunday market at Amboise.

Loads of Chateaux to see - don't miss Chambord and Chenonceau in particular (see my pictures).

This gite is great value for money in my view and I don't understand previous critical reviews. It's great for self catering with all mod cons and uk satellite tv, is easy to keep clean and apart from the occasional idiosyncrasy like the french doors whose lock has broken and which are now locked, or rather blocked, by placing a length of skirting board in the runner slot, (probably more secure than the lock!) I'd rate it at least four star standard. If you want five star opulence go to a hotel and pay the extra... If you don't want to self cater there are restaurants from between 3 (Veuves) and 10 km easy drive away.

Julie is a lovely chatty hostess and made us feel welcome and at ease. She couldn't have been more helpful and always had good advice. Banjo the dog, is another enigma - he's lovely and can detect food being prepared from miles away, and apart from fibbing that he has not been fed for at least a week, he's very well behaved.

Swimming pool has plenty of chairs / loungers and the space around it is large so guests are never on top of each other.

Surroundings are quiet and peaceful and there are quiet country walks past sunflower fields, vineyards and woods where we came across wild deer roaming at dusk. Sunsets are lovely (another photo..)

All in all, it was just what we wanted. Great value Gite, great location and grounds and great hosts. Manage your expectations and this delivers everything you want. We'd recommend it and we would / maybe will, go back.
