160 reviewsWe spent Christmas week at Balcons Du Soleil, and we really had a fantastic week! The hotel is basic, as you would expect, but very clean, comfortable and in a great spot. The reception team were always friendly and helpful, and spoke very good English. Our studio for four people was on the forth floor, and had a lovely view of the mountains from the balcony. Clean and comfortable, supplied with kitchenware and ample plates/glasses etc for four people. The sofa bed in the living area was surprisingly comfortable, and the bunk bed area for the children was just great, being able to close the door so the kids can sleep and you can enjoy your evening is great! The town itself is lovely, very typically 'French', a Carrefour Contact supermarket is about ten minutes walk, there is a great Charcuterie, selling rotisserie chickens that were really good. Plenty of bars, cafés and shops including a great toy shop, and ample skiing equipment stores to rent and buy clothing and equipment. TheTelecabine (cable car) up to the piste is about a ten minute walk from the hotel. We were a little nervous booking a two star, but having read great reviews decided to take the plunge and we were not disappointed. Font Romeu is a beautiful town, and a great escape into real France, we were the only Brits we saw for the whole week!
