HotelF1 Lyon Dardilly

I have never heard of this Hotel chain before I visited Lyon, France. This is great little self serve hotel chain. Free parking, free wi-fi, check-in and check-out times 12 noon. We were unaware of a three day trade show in Lyon, and had booked a room at a hotel for only the first night, hoping we would move around to different hotels every night. Unfortunately 98% of the hotels in the city was sold out. We were told to check out the Hotel F1. To my surprise this hotel had vacancy and booking was very easy. After we made our reservation through their website we got a reference number and everything else was a breeze. We arrived after 6PM and the reception was closed but using our booking reference number we let ourselves in. At the entrance, there is an automated reception kiosk with a multilingual touch screen. I entered my booking reference number, inserted my credit card, and it spit out our room number and a code to unlock the main entrance. The same code worked for our room, there are no keys or code cards to unlock your room, just a combination of numbers. Our room had a double bed and a single bunk bed, which is good for 3 people. I paid EUR36 (about $50) for the room. There is a sink in each room but the washrooms and showers are in the hallway of every floor, they are very clean and well maintained. The rooms have free internet access, a set of towels, but no soap in the sink. This hotel is located in Dardilly, about 10 miles away from the centre of Lyon, in a very quiet small suburb. If you are driving it is easy to get to, otherwise pay attention to the bus schedule, it is about a half an hour bus ride, depending on what part of the city you are coming from. The subway system runs very well and would take you to the bus stop within a few minutes from any part of Lyon.
