L’Éléphant de Vaugines

L’Elephant is a little piece of provencal paradise, and we highly recommend that you stay here. It’s perched just above the beautiful village of Vaugines, and within an easy 5 minute walking distance. It has lovely views onto the plain and the Luberon villages below. Situated amongst pines, the ponds, the goldfish, the plants, the statues, the elephant motifs and the silence only broken by the hypnotic sounds of wood pigeons and cigalles, make L’Elephant a special peaceful haven. The owners and hosts, Francois and Nina, are attentive, very kind and considerate. The pool is large and at a perfect temperature. And the breakfast is probably the best that we have experienced in France, including great omelettes made to order. Vaugines was one of the primary locations for the movies Jean de Florette and Manon des Source, and it was these movies that helped inspire our love of Provence. Spending time in this village some 30 years later has been all that we could have wished for. We will return here, and when we do we will stay in L’Elephant.
