Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos

It was a beautiful experience, I was really impressed with how they are building and rebuilding the hotel every winter season, it takes a lot of work and love! The tour was great, we saw all the rooms and suites, as well as the chapel where they usually held intimate weddings. The restaurant is quite spacious, our three-course dinner was fantastic. I had mushroom soup for starter, salmon for main course, and Berries pavlova for desert. We upgraded the experience with a drink at the Ice bar! So cool!

I truly recommend visiting and experiencing this hotel. The food was great! I wish I had more time because their ice sauna experience sounds exciting, too.  

We took the tour and dinning at the Ice Restaurant. 
I have to say it exceeded my expectations!
The place is wonderful, the food was delicious and the kindness and attention from the staff is excellent! I recommended fully and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

We opted for the hotel tour of the ice hotel + dinner in the ice restaurant. The hotel is incredible: every room has a different style with arts built with snow and ice, the kids - and parents - were in awe as we entered each room and walked around the premises. The dinner was delicious - I recommend the Elk among all dishes available, the Salmon did disappoint a bit - although of course very cold, but that's part of the experience!

Since we drove to the hotel, we took time after the dinner to play in the snow and slide with the many sledding provided and took our chance to see the norther lights from the skybar upper deck. The entire family loved every minute.

We went there with our kids aged 28 and 25 at the end of January 2023. We went there to enjoy the nature of lapland, reindeers and of cause northern lights. We arrived there by the Santa Claus train from Helsinki early in the mornind and were picked up by the hotel shuttle at the train station of Rovaniemi. 
We stayed in two of the glass igloos (one for us and one for our kids next to our igloo).  These igloos are equipped wirth a bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. From  the igloos you have a free view of the sky. If you are lucky you see the northern lights right from your bed. The hotel offers a so-called "aurora alarm" that wakes you up when northern lights are visible, but you can also switch off the alarm if you don`t want to be disturbed. 
The hotel is rebuit every year from snow and offers several unique hotel rooms created from ice and snow, together with a chapel, a restaurant and a hotel bar from ice. Every hotel room is special and offers a warm equipment for the people who stay there. I think that it will be a great experience to stay in one of these rooms. 
They also have a traditional restaurant where they serve traditional food, e.g. salmon and reindeer. There is also a hotel bar (not built from ice) in this building, whre you can also stay on the first floor.  
The hotel is located near a lake that was frozen during our stay. A lot of activities are offered, e.g. a visit to Santa Clause Village near Rovaniemi, visit of a reindeer farm with ride on a reindeer sled, icefishing, snowmobile fun, etc.      

We gathered our courage to sleep in snow hotel and we got just an amazing experience. The beds , sculptures are just amazing. How one can sleep in snow bed. Ohhh it is just amazing to sleep in temperature 0- -5. If u get uncomfortable sleeping in ice bed then they have kept the provision of bunk beds in locker rooms. Will never forget this night.

We stayed at the Arctic Snow Hotel and Glass Igloos on their 5 senses of ice package. It was a brilliant experience and although we didn’t see the Northern Lights because of the cloud cover we had so much else to do that it didn’t detract from the holiday. Highly recommended - especially the glass igloo but to sleep overnight in an ice room was pretty memorable - and yes, we were warm enough!

We arrived on 15th January for a three night stay. We had one night in the Snow Hotel and two nights in a glass igloo. Staying in the Snow Hotel is a unique experience. We were disappointed that that the standard rooms are quite plain - you need to book a suite to have one of the elaborate ice sculptures. We were warm enough in the provided sleeping bags and because it is not feasible to keep your personal items in the room, they provide lockers in a shared portakabin facility. The glass igloos are very cute and the beds very comfortable. The food offer is very limited and it would be to the resort’s and customers mutual benefit,  if a light snack menu was available in the Log restaurant. The staff really made this trip special. Paula is the head chef in the Kota restaurant and she organises the salmon cooking over the log fire. This is a highly skilled technique - the salmon was beautifully cooked but this was because of her attention to detail and motivation to provide a perfect dish. She also provides excellent customer care. Maria and Anna were notable on reception. Maria was proactive in helping us plan activities and then delightfully served us dinner in the Log restaurant. Anna was very patient in checking timings of activity start times. We also went on the night time snowmobile activity on evening of 16th January. Two staff coached us in the use of the snowmobile and then escorted us on our journey through the dark snow laden trees, lit up by our vehicle’s lights. This was magical. At a halfway point, they quickly started three campfires and we feasted on sausages, pastries and hot berry juice. These two staff were very competent and professional in leading the snowmobile convoy. I can’t recall both of their names but they were possibly Hannah and Emalay. Luis also lead us on a snowshoe trek and we were also treated to a warming snack and camp fire at a mid point (the resort cleverly sends staff ahead for this one to start the fire). Luis provided us with lots of local knowledge and also executed everything professionally.  The only downside was the sauna situation. This was our first trip to Finland and we were looking forward to having our first Finnish sauna . But you could only use the sauna for one hour per day and this was not mixed, so you couldn’t be together. The resort was encouraging guests to purchase private sauna experiences - these were an astronomical price, and annoying when one considers how expensive it is to stay at this resort anyway. However, this is indeed a very special place.

We experienced Fin sauna, snow sauna and hot tub. Sauna master seems to be professional and noticed us perfectly.
Also per booket dinner was cool. They are making salmon at open fire whitch makes it special. 
Iglus are big and confortable and aurora borealis alarm is big plus, thats why we spotted thwm as well.
Snowhotel is also experience of lifetine, dont miss it when around.

Loved the stay at this wonderful igloo. The room was perfect with perfect view. The aurora alarm system was great which helped us in viewing the northern lights from our igloo. But still we went outside to watch the beautiful phenomenon. The room is small but sufficient enough to keep luggage and jus to move around. The bed was comfy. The room had kettle as well as tea and coffee amenities.

The reception staff were really helpful and friendly and they did find us a way out to sort out dinner problems. Having only a fixed menu but still for two days the chef agreed and the reception staff were nice at negotiating and helping us sort out our dinner meal and provide with some thing we loved to have.

The driver who helped us with transportation was also good and friendly.

A perfect place to be at Rovaneimi to watch the Auroras and yes would definitely come back !!!

Loved our stay at the Glass Igloos in Feb 2022. It was a beautiful property, and staying in a glass igloo was a unique experience we will never forget. It was a bit cramped, but that's expected. Sauna and spa experiences (especially the ice sauna) were very unique and fun. Restaurant was good but not excellent. Service was very friendly and accommodating throughout.

Each year, this resort builds an elaborate snow hotel with themed rooms, a bar, and a restaurant.  It is an incredible work of art when it's finished.  Staying here is one of the most unique experiences you will ever have, but please note that this is not your standard hotel stay.  I'm not sure I fully understood that when I made my reservation; I'll get into that in a minute. 

Each year, a new theme is chosen, and artists are invited to help develop the rooms, the chapel, the restaurant, and about 20 hotel rooms.  Some of the hotel rooms are family suites, too! 

THINGS TO BE PREPARED FOR:
If you're interested in spending the night here --- and I recommend that you spend a night here --- here are some things you should be prepared for:

- The rooms are typically -5 °C  
- You should pack a smaller bag that is kept in an assigned locker that you have access to 
- Your larger luggage will be stored in the luggage room located in the lobby, and it will be locked overnight.
- The bathroom and shower are located down the hall and are shared with other SnowHotel Guests. 

For me, this was the biggest issue I wish I had been better prepared for: 
The hotel is open for tours throughout the day, which is fine.  Everyone should see this amazing ice artwork!  My husband and I even toured the place, but knowing that other people would be sleeping in the rooms, we refrained from touching anything --- particularly the beds.  Be prepared that every tour ticket holder will behave that way. We saw people rolling around in the beds and touching the pillows.  

- Your room becomes yours at 9 PM. 

OTHER AMENITIES AND ATTRACTIONS WE ENJOYED:
- Buffet breakfast: The breakfast was really good!  Gluten-free options if needed. 
- Aurora alert: At the SnowHotel, the Aurora alert is a staff member who monitors the lights all night and then pops into your room if there's something worth seeing. 
- Guided tour:  There were signs explaining each room and the artistry in them. 
- Wake-up service and hot juice:  Guests are awakened in the morning with hot juice. 
- Diploma for the night spent:   Bragging rights are the reward of these experiences after all. 
- Public Finnish sauna
- Free entrance to Arctic SnowHotel common areas and hotel rooms during opening hours
- Sledding and tubing on the frozen lake behind the resort 
- Two reindeer that didn't want to have much to do with us! 
- A Chapel - People do get married here! 
- Ice Bar -- Where, on completion of your beverage, you throw your glass against the wall.  The glass is made of ice after all.  During our visit in March, the bar had an overwhelming scent of cloudberry from all the remnants of those glasses!
- Ice Restaurant -- This stunning restaurant delivered a cool experience (see what I did there?).   The food was delicious.  Eat your soup quickly though, it goes cold very quickly!

BEDTIME
When you are ready to turn in, you're encouraged to leave your small bag that you packed in your locker.  You have access to this all night.  Do not take anything you don't need into the room as it will get wet during the night. The room will have a charger for your phone.  You tuck the phone in the sleeping bag with you.

You then take a sleeping bag and a liner.   I slept in my log underwear, socks, and a hat. I kept my boots and my coat nearby.  This worked out well for me as I did have to get up a couple of times during the night to use the restroom.  ADVICE ON THIS: The minute you think nature is calling, start getting out of the sleeping bag.  Trust me, this is going to take a minute!  Be sure to close the bag or it will be freezing inside when you get back in it. Then you need to get your boots on as well as your coat and make your way down the hall --- we were at the other end of the hotel. 

IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT
There are warm places for you to go.  There's a bunk room.  There's also a warm room where you can go hang out and warm up if you think you'd like to try to complete the night in the hotel afterwards. 

All-in-all a fun and very memorable experience!  And yes, we made it through the whole night in our snowhotel room!

A Once in a Lifetime Experience

We stayed for 1 night in a glass igloo on the 25th of February. We were given number 32. The igloo is small, we didn’t have luggage as we only took a night stop kit as left our luggage at our main hotel, if you have suitcases you will struggle for space. We found the room very warm (and I like it warm!) but you cannot control the heating as it is centrally controlled. It was only zero degrees outside so that maybe the reason as was unseasonably warm for that time of year. The room has a small fridge, kettle, and hair dryer.  We paid extra for the dressing gown, slippers, drinks, and snacks which is not worth the cost.  The dressing gowns were old and hard and the slippers cheap, we thought they would be luxurious.  Take your own drinks and snacks as you have a fridge to use for storage. We had dinner in the Kota restaurant which was nice, and they were able to accommodate my gluten and dairy free requirements. There were no northern lights during our stay (or the whole week we were in Rovaniemi). The beds are 2 small single beds which are not together, as they can be adjusted for sitting up if the lights were to appear. Breakfast was included, when I asked for gluten free bread, they said they didn’t have any, luckily the chef found some otherwise breakfast would have been very limited as they didn’t have any dairy free yoghurts either. During our stay we did a tour of the Ice Hotel (highly recommend) and Ice sculpting (fun, but we were useless at it!). All in all, would recommend an igloo for 1 night but would not want to have stayed longer than that.

An experience not to be missed

We had one night in the Ice Hotel and one night in a glass igloo.
The hotel staff are amazing and explained everything to us regarding our stay. 
So glad we got to stay in the Ice Hotel, it is amazing, the attention to detail in every room is incredible. To be fair we didn’t get much sleep but for one night it was worth the experience.
The meal in the Ice Restaurant was excellent, the food was hot and very tasty, the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The glass igloos are warm and comfortable, there isn’t a lot of space in the igloo but it didn’t bother us for one night. 
Breakfast is served in the Log Restaurant and there are plenty of hot and cold items to choose from.
We also had an evening meal in the Kota restaurant which was also very good, my only comment would be that they wait until all guests are seated before stating the meal service and when some guests rudely arrive late everyone has to wait for them.
We also had the Snow Sauna experience which was excellent and I would  highly recommend to try it.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay here.

A great two days

My fiancé and I have just returned from a wonderful stay here. The snow hotel is a must visit, we stayed  here for one night and the artwork and attention to detail in every single room is incredible,what a wonderful experience!  We spent plenty of time looking around all the rooms and had fun in the ice bar.  We then stayed In the glass igloo which was lovely and warm and cosy. Very clean. We didn't do too many excursions as we were fortunate enough to have visited Finland the previous year and had done quite alot,but we enjoyed the snow shoeing trip,aswell as the private ice sauna and jacuzzi, we went on some beautiful snowy walks on the frozen lake,had fun on ice, tubing ,and skating, and enjoyed feeding the reindeer on site also.  There are plenty of activities to book up. Breakfast was plentiful,lunch at Kota was lovely.  Staff friendly and helpful, we didn't want to come home. We even got to see the northern lights on our last night ,thanks to the aurora alarm in the igloo alerting us
