The owner and other staff I encountered are friendly. The place does have a certain charm and is in an excellent location, but the quality of the rooms leaves a bit to be desired, the bed is uncomfy, the bed linen very cheap feeling and not big enough for the bed. There is air conditioning but it broke down during my stay, fortunately is also a ceiling fan. My only window opened directly onto a fence, though I think I had booked the most basic room.
The main concern for me though is the security, the lock on the room door is very flimsy. There is supposed to be someone on reception whenever the front door is unlocked but I found the front door open and no one to be seen on a couple of occasions. I wasn’t aware of any burglaries while I was there, but some friends I made whilst there and who were staying longer, told me that there had been burglaries during the rest of their stay, I gather the owner wasn’t present at this time and it seems whenever he is not there, it becomes more risky.
The unique selling point I guess is that you can take guys back to your room which the other gay friendly hotels don’t allow I don’t think, but this together with the location, friendly service and charm probably don’t outweigh the disadvantages for me.

Friendly service but security concerns

Run down.  Not worth more than $20 per night.  No vent in bathroom, things don’t dry out.  The staff is nice, the location is good, but that does not make up for the extremely dated look of the property.  My room looked nothing like the photo.  I felt I was staying at a crack house. I booked in advance for 5 days.  Had to leave after 2 nights.  The also lost power for about 10 hours.  If you stay in the front room street traffic may keep you awake at night.

They ripped off my credit card by $35,(they said they wouldn't but did), they would not turn on the a/c, they would not put a safety deposit box in my room, the door lock was broken, there was no hot water, and the sheets and towel was not changed in 4 days (and was not clean to begin with), daytime front desk lady is belligerent and doesn't speak English, and there is no security.

Many gay travelers often choose a hotelon the basis that it is gay friendly because thet feel cimfirtable and these hotels usually provide goid infornation and support for a visit to a strange place. I did im this csse. To say that I was very disapoijted and let down would be a kindness. I expected at least somewhere in reveption to greet me who could speak English, there was a pleasant person there who tried to help but who spoke no English and dud not knew what to do. We had contact the owner by phone and he told me that I could wait for 3 hours gor someone to turn up. A nice man as it turned out. Unfortunately tjings simply went downhill from there, although cleanthe hotel interior was drab and pretty battered, the roomitself not much better and the bathroom was so worn it looked grubby and provided no hot water. Despite having booked and paid for a week it was obvious to me that I had to move. I checked about 6 hotels charging the same or similar rate, all were of markedly better in every way and at least there was someone I could speak to there. I left Adam Suites after 1 night dtermined not to allow an unsavoury experience to spoil a trip to a wonderful place. My advice, don't even consider this place. It seems to be surviving on a long lost reputation and would provide no advsntage and anyone, gay or otherwise. Just a terrible placeo

A Tawdry Ripoff

Not so good.  Sheets smelled and hot water was not available.  Also, the credit card machine was broken and we had to pay in cash.

Not a quality hotel

Price wise this property is in line with nearby hotels that are in much better shape. On the last morning of my stay there was no hot water which is a pretty basic expectation. Credit where credit is due, the staff was very nice and the facilities were very clean.  Most concerning was the manager tried to double charge us trying to convince us we had not paid through Orbitz. Kinda shady

When we got there no one spoke English and it was very confusing. The sheets and pillows must be 10 years old. The owner was rude and talk down to me like I was five years old . Place was missed managed and he double charged me as he could not find my receipt until I showed him when I got online that I had paid and he refunded me in pesos which I didn't want. Very dated and tired.

I was excited to stay here because of reading reviews and being a gay solo traveler. The staff were wonderful. Very helpful, courteous, and thoughtful. The actual room itself was a bit uncomfortable. The TV did not work, I did not sleep well on the bed after three nights, and the sheet selection of the bed was a bit outdated. The room certainly could use an update and invest some money into it. The hotel itself was basic, but cute. I felt like it was a traditional home feel, which is nice compared to the standard hotel choice. I probably won't be staying here next time, unless there is some improvements, but thank you staff for making the stay more comfortable with your hospitality :)

4 days, 3 nights: Solo traveler

This is not a luxury 4 Seasons Hotel, but it's very well situated, clean, comfortable and affordable. Gilbert the manager is very knowledgeable and helpful, bilingual, and knows the local scene very well. I was most impressed! The hotel is located across the street from bars which are very lively and rather noisy, especially on weekends. If you are not a party animal, reserve a quiet room (not a balcony room), as it can be quite festive at night!

Wonderful neighborhood hotel

The location is excellent, just up from Independence Park in an interesting area near many museums and other attractions, very good small supermarkets, bars, bistros and restaurants.  The owner is a real personality, accommodating, helpful and businesslike.  This is not a luxury hotel, but rather a straightforward and cheerful place to stay, with excellent and understanding 24 hour security and great information if you ask for it.   No hassles at all if you strike lucky with a guy, though for guests' safety it is strict on keeping out known ne'er-do-wells, which I appreciated very much.  The hotel attracts an interesting range of guests.  I'd definitely stay again.  For a quiet resort experience, follow this with a stay on the north coast.
