Esplanade Apartments

I have been there by invitation and despite visiting ŠM relatively often, I did not know about this beautiful hotel. It is hidden from the main part of the busy town, which is frequently dubbed Czech Aspen. Hotel is a mixture of modern and traditional, exactly as i would expect in this location. Strongest convincing point is the staff, especially in the restaurant. Make sure you eat in the restaurant, they are slightly pricey, but still in line with the high end restaurants in the area. Majority of the food we had was delicious. Breakfasts are fresh, tasty and with ample choice of everything, yet different from your typical "Swedish table". Fresh yoghurts, fruit, juices and cereals, top quality hams and salamis, scrambled eggs made to perfection (not dry as in many places) bacon, spicy sausages and good choice of tees. Breakfast coffee as in 99% of all hotels is not good. We did not ask, but they would for sure make you a good espresso or late if you are a coffee-head and you need good coffee desperately. Good for families with kids, but not bad for couples either. Good parking, good ski-room with dryers, lockers etc. You can ski down to the slopes, but when returning, it is a fair bit of walk, I would recommend taking a taxi. (approx E8 for two and all your skiing gear) All summed up - beautiful, friendly and adequately priced - not for the budget traveller. We would definitely return.
