Travelled with a friend for two weeks at this resort in March/April, 2024.  The accommodations were better than expected with a very spacious room and bathroom with plenty of storage and nice outdoor balcony.  We stayed in building 5 which was close to the pools and snack bar.  The rooms were kept impeccably clean with plenty of bath and beach towels.  If you are a picky eater, Cuba probably isn't the place for you.  Children may not have the hamburger and french fries that they are used to but we had many nutritious and delicious meals.   Don't forget the Spanish coffee in the lobby bar!  The evening shows are exceptional and Los Vegas quality.  What may be lacking in food choices is certainly made up by the lovely staff who do everything they can to  make your stay fun and comfortable.  Don't forget to tip generously as they are very appreciative of everything.  A special shout out to David and Coco who went above and beyond to engage everyone and made our stay so much fun!  There are so many who we now consider friends and sad to have to leave them.  Until we meet again...

Food : 2⭐️ The food wasn’t great. I think the chefs did the best with what they had but it wasn’t enough unfortunately…Pack snacks or you will be hungry

Rooms : 5⭐️ Clean and comfy

Beach & Pool : 5⭐️ Beach is close to the resort and the pools are bug enough to accommodate everyone 

Drinks : 4⭐️ Lacks variety a little but the drinks are good. Bring a reusable water bottle to fill up with water cause you rarely get bottled water. 

Entertainment: 5⭐️ I loved the dancing sessions & zumba by the pool. David and Coco were always so welcoming, fun and friendly!!!! They made my trip a thousand times better 🫶🏻

Go prepared and you’ll have fun

  Broken toilet seat no lock on our bottom floor patio door.  smell of dampness in room
Huge leak on bath floor. Mold on the wall under the sink. Had to get water from bar no food at snack bar   shortages with everything. Sick on day 5 I'm sure from mold

DO NOT GO HERE!! TOTALLY MISLED  BY REVIEWS...BELIEVE THE BAD ONES!  THE GOOD ONES THE PEOPLE WERE EITHER DRUNK OR LYING!

I stayed at the grand muthu with my friends. David the entertainer was great. A lot of good food options. We enjoyed the sandwiches at the bar and enjoyed the unlimited drinks. The vibe was great and the guests were really kind and good to us. Beach was amazing

Great time at family resort

This hotel is beautiful the pools are amazing and the ocean is awesome  our room was clean and modern. The only problem is shortages. Cuba is going to have to figure out how to solve this quickly or they will be loosing a lot of Canadians in the future 
The food wasn’t horrible lots of meat for me and my wife ate pasta every day. Not much for fruit eggs bacon. No shrimp and not many vegetables but cucumbers and tomatoes were delicious. Not a big fan of having the buffet only open certain hours. It would have been nice to see the main buffet open from 7 to 10 at night. 
The bars always had beer and rum but not much of a selection after that. The Spanish coffees were addicting
The bugs were eating me alive huge welts and scabs from them. My wife not one bite. I live in Winnipeg so I know mosquitos and flies nothing as bad as Cuban bugs. I was prepared for them this year but didn’t help

It's magical

We have not been back to Cuba since we had to cancel practically on our way out the door in 2020. We decided on a new resort this time - Cayo Guillermo, and we were not disappointed at all. We were greeted the day of arrival with such a beautiful clean well maintained resort with the most spectacular views of the ocean from just about anywhere on the resort. Who could ask for more? The attention to detail from so many wonderful staff members was so heartwarming, at times it felt like we had never taken the COVID years staying away. So many many staff we want to mention. From the moment we got there - Johanna at reception was eager to get us into our room - and oh my , all our trips to Cuba this had a view we had never experienced. Saily at the lobby bar was ready with cold drinks for everyone, even slushies for the kids. She helped eagerly with our alacarte reservations, always the beautiful smile, running here and there serving and taking orders. We knew her from years back and it was so nice to see her again and see she has not changed just more beautiful.  - Yoan the capitain, was ready to please at whatever we wanted. He was so busy here and there but always had a moment to check in , making sure everything was okay Yuxdania so quick to serve and please in the snack bar.  Idy behind the scenes in the snack bar, very unassumedly bringing a continual trays of refills, smiling and returning for more. Leo in the snack bar all alone in the evening, smiling as he attempted to keep up with any and all orders, then met him again in the a la carte , smile on his face . Dany in the buffet remembered us from another resort , as did his boss Ibert. Ibert's command of the english language outstands my own, and most certainly superceeds my meager command of the espanol . Saily at the lobby bar and reservations, always the beautiful smile, running here and there serving and taking orders.  
Alexis the capitaine of Senderos was kind enough to squeeze us into his lair for a birthday lunch and WOW. WOW is all that needs to be said, that food was so much better than anything we could have had in Canada. So much food though, we felt so guilty sending some back on our plates, but we were so full, dinner was simply a little sweet at the buffet, we were all stuffed. Yanisleisy the waitress at Senderos, she just never stops smiling, and what a beautiful smile she has as she bends under and over the branches and tree stumps, never even a sigh of complaint. Yudy the gardener who entertained our grandson and granddaughter with his kindness and his weaving skills . They both cherish their hats. 
Naivy our gentle souled housekeeper for the week, and artiste of the towel art, my grandkids couldnt wait to see what she had created everyday. 
The ala carte meals were enjoyed by all, Daniela at the International stands out with her beautiful smile and eager to please us as well as the kids.  The pizza lunch place, how do they keep up. Hertico makes the best pizza ever - and actually remembered us from the last time we ran into him at Paraiso 4 years ago. Incredible! Pizza to die for, but because of that we felt embarassed at our fellow tourists behaviour. Like animals to get in, get settled and line up for the pizza. I dont know how those girls manage to live through that day after day. Roasalia and her counterparts deserve medals. . 
I am sure I have misses so many names Beatrix was so kind in helping us pre travel and we appreciated all she did in setting things up for us. We will be back 

Over the Top Impressed 

Part 1-I am the one that was robbed directly from the safe for $200. Very disappointed. It wasn’t only being ripped off but that security didn’t seem to care.  All meetings for security never showed.

A short stop at GrandMuthu Cayo Guillermo, a short moment that might have gone unnoticed but thanks to my long experience, I was able to appreciate the charm of this hotel.Once we arrived in the lobby,Saily or Janny made us feel at home and offered us one of the best piña coladas. Yoan in charge,Alberto and Yandy are here to offer us the best cocktails. In the morning at the buffet, fine food served accompanied by the wonderful smiles of Dany,Taimy,Inalvis and Yarianna.

I would have given this resort a better review however the many incidents of theft we heard of this week was alarming for Cuba.
Sad day today, for our Cuban friends.  Be careful on this resort.  The actions a a few Cuban Staff can taint an entire resort and that isn't fair.  4 different rooms had their locked safe broken into and money stolen.  All 4 on the 3rd floor of either building 7 or 8.  We aren't talking 20 bucks taken.  One couple had $70 and another had $200.  More alarming was the maintenance worker who attempted to force his way into our friends room, pushing the door open, with our female friend pushing back from the inside. They hadn't called for maintenance work to be done.
The Canadians in all 4 rooms notified either the front desk or customer service.  Management didn't seem surprised or concerned which is the most disappointing thing to me.  One couple who had $200 stolen had an appointment with security set up to discuss the incident ... but security never showed up.
Something else important to note.  The dead bolt lock which is manually set from in the room, is overridden by the swipe card.  So you get a false sense of security.
As far as our time there,
we had a great week, met many new friends and really enjoyed our stay.  Alexis, the chef in the Sendero restaurant is fantastic, and the food is the best we have ever had in Cuba.  Ask Oscar in the sports bar for his 'Oscar special'.  Uounwont be disappointed.  Incredible beach.  Yes there were some hiccups with occasional temporary shortages with towels or bread some days.  However keep in mind what is transpiring in the world right now, and Cuba is struggling.
...and to Hotel management,  Canadians like coming to Cuba for many reason, one specifically because of the sense of security and safety.  Please show more concern for these thefts and the alarming intrusion into a young female guests privacy, and deal with it appropriately.   We have never seen this before in the years we have been coming to Cuba, and we have been coming for many years.
