Celeste Mountain Lodge

This is an oasis in nature. An eco-everything lodge that is comfortable and has incredible food. The food is a fusion of Costa Rican and French cuisine. Breakfast is included but I recommend doing the full board and leave it to the chef to create your 3 course meal. The lodge offers tours as well and has a 2km trail through first growth forest just across the street.

The hotel is absolutely fabulous. Creative design, beautiful garden, super staff and incredible food. Lots of great birds and animals in the area,  the cool red-eyes tree frog and even a sloth in the garden. All our group loved it. We’d come back in a heartbeat!

We enjouée our stay, the room was clean and quiet, the communal areas were beautiful and the views amazing. The food was good too. We would go again!

Unique open air lodge.  Open the large windows and photograph birds ehile sitting in the dining area.  Large garden grounds and a private mountain trail.  The full board meals were fabulous.  Would highly recommend.

Beatiful structure bringing the outdoors inside with beautiful gardens and environment. Excellent and accommodating chef and staff. Great bird, reptile, and animal viewing. Well located for sight-seeing, Jonier was great guide; hated to leave after only 2 nights; can’t wait to return for longer relaxing visit.

This was a really lovely Eco-friendly hotel. Dinner was excellent, gourmet quality. Great breakfasts. Staff was attentive and friendly. They have their own private trail on which we were able to take a night walk / wildlife tour. Highly recommended! It’s quite close by car to Bijagua where there were restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. Close to Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio and the Rio Celeste. We also enjoyed the private trails at Helaconia Lodge where we spotted a troop of spider monkeys.

A unique property with a  personal welcome, excellent cooking and a great French rose wine at a reasonable price . And a great laundry service. If you want air conditioning and Netflix this is the wrong hotel for you. But if you want to open the window and enjoy the location and the atmosphere this is a beautiful place to stay. It’s in the mountains so will not be as warm or dry as in the valleys, but that is all part of the experience. And a great hike from the door.

What a gorgeous amazing hotel setting!! Very serene and gorgeous!! The staff was such a pleasure. The 3 meals were so delicious! The owner is very kind and responsive. We had the best time.

Unique property with a great welcome

Our family of five stayed here in late December and used it as a homebase to explore Bijagua, Tenorio & Cano Negro Wildlife Reserve. The lodge is built into the mountain and has beautifully manicured grounds, and its own 2 km trail in the park across the street - where we saw monkeys within hours of arriving! The food incorporates local ingredients in modern French ways to create a Costa Rican fusion that was fantastic. Beds and rooms were comfortable, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the digital detox of no screens in the rooms (especially for the kids).

Beautiful Lodge for Exploring Tenorio and Beyond

The property was beautiful! We saw more birds on the property than we did at the nearby natiknal park.The food from the restaurant was excellent! A true highlight of our trip.The rooms were very clean and so was the entire property and the staff was very nice and helpful. Only negative of the property is a lack of heating/cooling in the rooms. The temperature was fine during our stay, mostly missed being able to get the room dry. We were soaked from our hike during the day and were never able to get fully dry, even after getting back to the hotel.

We had a fantastic one-night stay at Hotel Celeste while visiting Tenorio Volcano Park.  The hotel is built with an ecological focus, blending into the natural environment beautifully.  Nice and comfortable rooms.  Great food.  Fantastic service.  Ideal location.  Thanks to Joel and team for a wonderful stay.

Perfect location and choice!

We had an amazing experience at Celeste lodge. Starting with our concierge Francisco who was so helpful, friendly and welcoming. The location and views are to die for. Their restaurant serves lunch and dinner by reservation only but their food is so fresh and delicious that we ended up dining in there the two nights we stayed. There is always a surprise meal prepared by a French chef. Btw, we have dietary allergies in our family and they accommodated us without a problem, Breakfast is complimentary and is so good too. We would go back in the blink of an eye!

A very unique hotel!! beautiful in all senses!Staff and owner extremely kind!!our food incident:We left chewing gum in the shelf upon entering the room and within minutes it was full of ants. There is an instruction booklet/binder in the room which states not to bring any food in the room in bold red color font but its buried in 2 pages of information and we didn't finished reading by the time the ants got to the gum. perhaps a sign on the hotel door or a reminder during check-in would be great as the hotel is inside the forest!The owner and staff gave us a new room to ensure we would have a safe night w/o ants. Thank you!!!Great breakfast!!

Turned out to be one of my favorite lodges during our five trips to Costa Rica! A great base for exploring the area to include a local forested walk offering a variety of birds, mammals and other wildlife.  A fine example of ecotourism. The use of recycled metal barrels to make furniture and coconut husk fibers to fill cushions and hassocks are but two examples that caught our eyes. 

Lodge occupancy was light during our two-night stay so I can not comment on noise levels during the night. But our room was comfy and more than met our needs. Was a bit warm due to unusually high air temps but windows could be adjusted and once the sun went down, the room quickly cooled off. As at other lodges in CR, wash cloths were not provided and no hot water at the sink. No big deal for us. 
The food was a good as anywhere we have stayed while birding. I did not expect the high level of cuisine we enjoyed. Could have been at a fancy restaurant in a big city. Portions were very satisfying. 

The staff was friendly and certainly willing to make one’s stay enjoyable. Joel, the owner/manager could not have been any more accommodating. His sharing of photos of resort wildlife happenings  made for a down-to-earth stay.

The layout and use of potted plants/bushes in the atrium greatly enhanced the setting. At times even birds had access to the area and the periodic “rain forest” watering added to the atmosphere. The visit of the bronze-striped parrot snake was a real treat as we had our first meal in the dinning room. Two small ponds and related life rounded out a short night walk as we looked for owls in the larger trees.

We would not hesitate to stay again at Celeste Mountain Lodge.
