I love the YueYang Hotel! It's not frilly, it's not special but it's in a great little area in the French Concession and close to some great places to eat or get a drink! When I check out, the staff at the hotel are always able to accommodate my baggage until later in the day when I can pick it up. The staff's English is limited but since Expo started, it seems as though there may be a couple of new employees who can speak better English. My worst experience at Yueyang involved a group of high school violin students who decided to practice for a concert at 7am. The hotel didn't understand what I was saying when I called to complain to the front desk but I decided just to wake up early - had I been out later that evening, I would have been very angry! The particular room I had also had a faulty toilet which was inconvenient. Overall though, for the price, you can't go wrong with Yueyang! It's clean, has basic amenities as well - just make sure you bring your own water!
