We were visiting family in Qingdao and decided to try the Hot Mineral Springs. We decided to try this resort because it was in the middle price wise of others in the area with somewhat good reviews. My daughter's fiance purchased the tickets in advance. I believe it was 138 rmb per person. We decided to try the fish pool as well for additional fee. Upon arrival the place looks like a very new resort area. It has the mineral pool spa, a hotel , etc. We entered in the main entrance but that is wrong you really need to enter on the left front of the building. We went up to the counter to check in. Females enter to the left, males to the right. First you have to drop off your shoes and put on slippers instead. They give you a wrist fob to open your locker. You change into your bathing suit and then enter the shower area to rinse off before you enter the pool. It looked like there was a VP locker section but not sure what that entails not much different from the rest of the locker room. You can see but they don't put on much lighting. You enter the pool area where you first wade through a small pool most likely to clean your feet. This indoor area has a large pool with Greek type statues. We decided to go out the doors to the left first. It kind of takes you to a indoor green house with lots of plants. We first decided to do the fish pool. The water is not very high but you are mainly putting your feet in. As soon as you do fish gather around your feet and start nibbling. It is so ticklish you have to laugh. You almost don't think you can take it anymore but then you start to get use to it and then it is just a funny sensation. Everyone should try it. It is quite the experience. The other pools didn't seem to be filled for use. This is a gradual level pool you can walk into but it was not filled up high enough or clean enough. It has water guns that you can spray water into the pool or I guess aim at others. There is also a lap pool here but I think you have to pay extra for it. We then went outside. There is a large pool but it too was too dirty to use. We went to the smaller steam baths each at a different temperature. Some encased in different types of wood for different healing properties I assume. This area has a wooded overhang to it which would help to block the sun. You are not suppose to stay in any one pool or tub for more than 15 minutes. I assume that is for health reasons but also to give others a try. We went on a week day and didn't have that many other people to worry about. Most of the other outdoor pools are not operating except for a hot salt pool that is very hot. You can not stay in it for very long. We decided to go back indoors. Some of the tubs had oil to soften the skin, rose petals, beer (yes, I said beer), wine, and the chinese baijiu. There is a area with childrens playground type of plastic equipment for them to climb on but there were no children the day we went. All of these pools are not filled very high inside but you can have then turn on the water to fill them up more. From here you can further in the back to another section. These tubs are made with different kinds of stone, or they target different areas with jets such as your feet, rear end etc.. You need to push the buttons to get them to work. They also have jade marble flooring to lay down on. These are heated and feel quite soothing to lay on. If you go back further that is where there is a sauna area and massage rooms. No one was there. I don't know if you are to pay extra to go here or not but we did go in one opened sauna. It was warm but not super hot like most saunas. But my son enjoyed it that he went back later. After we changed clothes we went up on the second floor to enjoy juice and fruit. I believe this is an extra fee. We had apples and grapes I think. They do provide shorts and a kimono type of shirt if you want to wear these to the lounge instead changing into your clothes. By the way the showers do have liquid soap and shampoo if you want to clean up afterwards. Overall I am glad we went but I do wish they would clean the pools better and fill them all for use. Some had algae around the tops of them. Most people would not know that they could have the people fill them up higher. The lady told us the natural spring water is quite hot so they have to cool it some before it can be brought into the pools or tubs. By tubs I mean like Jacuzzi tubs. I would recommend this place but next time I come for a visit I most likely would try another one to compare. This was like an hour's drive from Qingdao. The area feels like it is out in the country. Best to eat a meal before you leave because not sure of the quality of restaurants on the way. We had some snacks in the car. PS. There is a small shop were you can buy swimsuits but I think they would be all small sizes. Plus I think you can rent some inner tubes here as well.
