Yonghegong Hotel

The Hotel, which is also known as Yuyao Lama Temple Hotel (on Agoda), is conveniently located on one of the main roads (the Sheng Shan West Road) of Yuyao with lots of restaurants, shops and other hotels in the vicinity, which are all open till late. It's a very beautiful Chinese Traditional Style Hotel with massive space which is tastefully decorated, very clean and has a very calming outlook. The check-in was smooth, and I had a non-smoking room on the 3rd floor, overlooking the backside of the hotel, which was not bad. It was a very spacious room, well appointed, with a very large bathroom. The King Size Bed was comfortable, There was a Tea-Coffee making facility (kettle with dips, as usual), a safety-locker, bathrobes, a mini-bar etc. The heating was good, and fairly comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was also good with a good layout even for Vegetarians, and very well priced at 30 Yuan per head. The staff were helpful - offering an Umbrella when it was drizzling The only flip side was that hot water in the room was not very hot, and a bit slow in coming (the shower-head needs some cleaning of the water-mineral deposits), the TV channels were only the local Chinese channels (with just one or two English channels showing some movie), and the sofa could do with some cleaning as well. But none of this took away the overall decent feel of the hotel. There are quite a few restaurants in the vicinity (and I even found a Vegetarian 'Su Men Fu restaurant' on 238 Yangxi Road - about a mile away by walk). There is a good Traditional Chinese Massage facility on Fuxiang North Road - if you turn to the right at the junction with Sheng Shan West Road, and walk for 100 meters - on the right. Overall a decent hotel.
