City Comfort Inn Nanning Railway Station

I had to travel from Beijing to Nanning, and catch an onward train to Hanoi the following day. I'd previously stayed in Nanning a couple of weeks before, and had great difficulty in finding a suitable hotel/guest house/hostel. The problem is that Nanning is basically a fuctioning Chinese city, with few tourists, and therefore caters to people usin it as a hub. With hat, it's not easy to find anyone that speaks English, and being my first time i China, I haven't learned Chinese! I popped into the High-Class Hotel, just to geta price for a nights stay, and was expecting a shock when i saw the immaculate lobby area, and nautical theme inside. I was pleasantly surprised to be quoted 128RMB ($18-19), which is about 1/3 of the rate being charged just a block away at the Phoenix! The staff are uniformed and speak English and there are two lifts (elevators). The rooms are spacious and clean, with cable TV and a comfortable bed. There are also a plentiful supply of little 'extras' left on display, which can be added to your final room bill upon check-out (drinks, noodles (kettle in room), condoms and other little love 'trinkets') Bathroom is clean with hot water and shower. I paid more than the rate for this room at the Lotusland Hostel, and without any of the frills (no tv etc). So, if you need somewhere close to the railway station and at a reasonable price, look no further. To locate the hotel, get to the railway station, then as you're facing the entrance, look over to the right, and you will see the hotel just to the right of the station, across the bus park.
