If you are looking for a budget accommodation in Hong Kong take a closer look at Mei Lam Guesthouse in the Mirador Mansion located on the 5th floor (our Lonely Planet edition said it was the 4th which is wrong and made as go to the ground floor again since elevators only connect even or odd floor numbers). You may know that it is located on Nathan Road at the very center of Kowloon at Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and in walking distance to the Star Ferry to Hong Kong island. From the airport you can also take bus A21 for 33 HKD. We had a windowless room there large enough for a rather wide bed and our two bags. Room and en-suite were clean. The air was quite fresh and the en-suite allowed to take a shower without wetting toilet (paper) and mirror - two big pluses compared to another guest house in the Mirador Mansion were we only spent a single night. After all, I highly recommend to take a look at the room before booking as there is no such thing as a "standard room" at the Mirador so your room may look completely different.
