Chongqing Deck No.88 Youth Hostel

We live in the hotel, to visit Chongqing in Hongya Cave, and a lot of scenic spots are concentrated in the vicinity, lived in Chongqing travel of the hotel, the hotel has a lot of decorate a style, in China enjoy a few days, to stay in the hotel staff gave us travel guides, very warm, it would be a surprise, China travel here to stay for me wonderful memories

Only stayed one night but it was a pleasant hostel. Nothing special, but the staff were friendly, the dorms clean and it is in a very convenient location down the the waterfront on the north side of the Chongqing peninsula. For 55 yuan you could do a lot worse. The easy way to get there is to find the Hongya Cave 'cultural village' (ie shopping centre) on Cangbai Lu. Take the lift down from level 9 - near the fake pirate ship - to level 1 and turn left. The hostel is just 2 minutes away next to a more swish hotel. It is next to a highway to traffic noise might be a problem, but can't say I noticed it.

The name of this hostel is now Deck 88.  This hostel is located on the side of a large verticle rock wall along the river. It has a fantastic view of the river and the area around the hostel is spectacularly developed with shops, restaurants and other hotels. 
Didn't spend any time in the common areas so I will not comment on Rhodes services. 
The room was more of a Japanese styl with a mattress on the floor.  There was a separate shower room as well as a separate room for a toilet.  There were also common area showers that I used as they were more convenient. 
The A/C worked well as it was quite warm. 
There were 2 problems with this hostel. If you are 6' or more there are low beams where you will hit your head(I did).  The biggest problem are ill fitting single pane windows. It sounds like the windows are open as there is a lot of road noise from a busy street.  You have to be a sound sleeper!

A hotel full of surprises

Nice place, handy location

Unique stay - fantastic views - lots of road noise

i hate to write this, but during my stay, the whole place smelled of urine. i stayed about four nights, though, primarily because i was lazy and didn't want to schlep all my stuff to a THIRD hostel in chongqing (i was booted out of the crappy yangzte rive hostel because a large tour group had a big reservation the next day).

the dorms were average, if not slightly below average. it rained a lot during my stay, and because this place is located at the bottom of a hillside, they probably get lots of moisture and runoff. mold was evident in the dorms and the paint was peeling. common restrooms were not ver clean.

but the lingering and most poignant memory i have of this place is the SMELL. it smelled faintly of urine the whole time i was there. it didn't really get to me until about the third day. i thought it would be a passing thing, but the smell was pretty consistent throughout. maybe a sewer is nearby??

VERY kind staff though, especially the girl with the little dog. the location is kinda fun though, another plus and also another reason why i stayed. carrefour is nearby, which is nice.
