River Lee Executive Bed and Breakfast

We arrived before Stampede and stayed for the first few days and River Lee was such a great peaceful oasis. Diane was a great hostess and was generous with her time and suggestions - she always made sure we had the right maps and took bear spray with us on hikes! Her breakfasts and snacks were delicious and very much appreciated. We enjoyed the backyard in the mornings and evenings. We didn't cook for ourselves but we could have if we'd wanted to - all the amenities are there.

Kensington is a great neighbourhood - lots of restaurants (of all types and prices), bars, and the B&B is steps from the river, so you can basically walk forever.

We stayed 5 nights in the Summer Suite. Comfy bedroom and sitting room suite up a flight of stairs. Good shower and good sized bathroom. Di who works for the owner, De, was extremely helpful...suggested restaurants, offered to store our luggage when we went to the mountains, moved her car so we had a parking space, suggested we could put our cheeses in her refrigerator, etc. etc. Parking is free, available in the lane behind the house or with a permit supplied by Di, available on the street.

Di is a chef and the breakfasts are a huge creative meal, fruit, home made baked goods, frittata with fresh herbs or quiche, bacon, hash browns, etc. 

Definitely recommend this place for homey comfort, great location near shops and Starbucks and wonderful restaurants. Di is a treasure, interested but not intrusive.

My wife joined me for my second night at River Lee and didn't believe my rave reviews of Diane's breakfast, until she ate it the next morning. A gourmet breakfast that allowed for (and asked for) any dislikes/intolerances in food. Great accommodation steps from the heart of Kensington with all the food and beverage establishments one could hope for. Gourmet, eclectic, comfort, and pub food abounds in Kensington where chefs take it to wonderful heights. Can't wait for an excuse to stay there again. Try this place.

Deanne and Diane could not do more to make us feel welcome at this friendly b&b. There were fresh muffins, fruit and juice in our room on arrival. They helped us with directions, suggested things to do around the city, even provided a walking tour map which was very useful on our first day. The best part of our stay was the delicious and very filling breakfasts. Each day was different and we ate so much we hardly needed lunch afterwards.

The b&b is located in a great little neighbourhood with loads of fun shops, bars and restaurants to explore. It is only a short walk across the bridge to downtown.

A lot of smoke and mirrors. The summer suite is advertised as an en-suite bath with luxury toiletries, thick towels but actually only has a shower and grocery store toiletries, and normal hotel towels.  If I had known there was no bath, I would not have booked.  The room is so small  there is no where for your suitcase except the couch.  I constantly bumped my head since the room is in a small attic. LCD TV is just a computer screen. The bed was very comfortable and bedding was wonderful but being squished in cramped quarters made it an uncomfortable stay.Every nook and cranny in this room has knickknacks on every surface so there was no where to spread my belongings.  A reading light by the bed would have been nice.  There was only one big lamp on one side of the bed but not for reading. I have stayed in many high end B&Bs and while it was nice to be asked if I had any allergies, food preferences, etc. I prefer to be presented with a variety of choices at breakfast and not be presented with a cooked concoction of eggs, bread, cheese, etc.  Muffins were white flour and coffee was weak Maxwell House.  I had to go out for my coffee.  Yes, I am fussy but when I am paying close to $200 a night I expect the best.  The hostess was intrusive and far too familiar.  Every square inch of this house is a bedroom with a very small sitting area.  Neighborhood is wonderful which was a big plus.  This is a very average B&B at best.
