Great location, clean rooms with easy safe access for guest and very clean shared washroom and kitchen probably cleaner than a hotel washroom

Wonderful place or bachelors and solo traveler’s. Neat and clean bathrooms and bedrooms. Love to visit again.

Best to check in online before you get there. The self service terminal was a real pain.

We had a great time! The staff were friendly and courteous. We were able to leave our bags in their lounge after check-out and found lots of things to do within walking distance.

There was a lot of construction next to the property which made it very noisy. Accessing the building was a challenge as it didn't work the first time we tried. We texted someone and they were very helpful so we eventually got it right. The room we had was lovely and roomy. The beds were very comfortable, bathrooms, kitchen and dining area were very clean. We have no complaints about the place. It was very convenient to get to the boardwalk and restaurants in the area. Would recommend and would probably stay again next time in Halifax.

Excellent location if you're attending the conference centre.  Self check in was a breeze.  I was worried about the shared bathrooms being all occupied in the morning at shower time - no problem.  The nicest bathroom is on the first floor.  The only real problem was the noise outside - brutal!  There is a constant flow of garbage trucks in the morning across the street plus a major construction project right next door that has construction noise from the crack of dawn.  The jackhammering and other loud noise is a real negative.

Felt very safe and secure. Was travelling by myself. Took getting use to bathroom being shared cause I'm use to hotels.  Common areas really clean and other guest were very respectful of each other. Room was smaller than expected but i only needed a place to sleep. Very walkable to points of interest within the city.  Wish i would have known halifax is on a hill but i would rather a walk uphill to my conference in the morning than a walk uphill back to my hotel.  Would highly recommend for anyone that wants to explore the waterfront and not pay an arm and a leg on a hotel.

We didn't have any towels on the second night of our stay and asked someone where can we get some more.They pretty much said that on the weekends, it's fend for yourselves as there's no organization/no weekend staff.Maybe a good idea to get more employees or up the organization on weekends.Apart from that it was really nice, cozy, quiet and we felt safe. We'll definitely try to book again when we come back to Nova Scotia

The passcode system was glitchy to enter the building when we first arrived. There was no one in the office, so text messaging had to be used. That incurred a long wait and we weren't sure if were getting in. Those issues could attributed to the fact we online reserved the afternoon before, less than 24 hours. There was construction on Granville adjacent to the building. We were out all day so that didn't bother us.

It was a very clean and hygienic place . The bathrooms and lounges were all fantastic especially. I faced a lot of trouble trying to check in . It was some technical error with their system.  I had to wait for 1 hr for them to fix the error in the door code . But they were very polite and helpful and fixed it although it took some time. Apart from the check in , which I think normally doesn't happen with them , I loved the place. <3

Granville Hall was smack dab in the middle of downtown Halifaz. Everything we wanted to see or do was usually only a 10 minute walk away including the Citadel, the Wharf, Harbour Hopper and so much more! There is tons of food options around or bring your own to cook in the full kitchen. Bathrooms were always clean. The only problem we experienced was the plug in kept falling out of the wall so the fan wouldn't stay on during the night. And the chair for the desk needed some screws, but it wasn't dangerous, you just couldn't lift it well. Be prepared to walk and the third stairwell is a little narrow with luggae. Otherwise, an amazing stay. We felt safe with multiple security pins and the other peoppe in the dorm were friendly.

The accommodation was great. Good room with mini fridge, super clean everywhere, nice showers, kitchen on every floor and comfy lounge with smart tv. Right in the city centre close to the waterfront and many cafes and bars. But the communication and check in were awful. Pretty much impossible to get a hold of someone on the phone even during office hours and thankfully we met someone from house keeping who could help us with the check in as we hadn’t received the needed email to get our codes. Altogether a comfy stay for a night or more but as everything around Canada rather expensive for what you get.

Great but comms could be improved

Very happy with our recent stay here, keeping in mind this is university housing accommodation with shared bathrooms, 2 per floor - each floor has 12 rooms. No AC in rooms but windows open & fan is provided. Very quiet in the building but there is construction currently being down  nearby. Location in downtown Halifax is excellent but parking around facility is pricey but that’s the case regardless of where you stay.

If you’re a light sleeper this may not be the best option if you need a good nights rest. At night the sounds of doors opening and closing can be easily heard. Location is great and the price is good for what you’re receiving (clean facilities, a private room, contactless check-in). I will note that I did observe some pest traps set up in the room I stayed in (it would seem that many of the older buildings in downtown Halifax have their challenges with pests like ants and mice). Overall, it was a pleasant stay for a very affordable price.
