Good stay for the price, includes laundry

Staff were very helpful, the property and room were great value for its price and the area felt safe and in a good location. There's also free parking and staff let us store our luggage for a few hours after we checked out. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Very clean rooms, pretty quiet and not too crowded when we stayed. Great option for affordable accommodations with more privacy than a hostel.

Great property. Clean, efficent, queit. The risley hall residence has no airconditioning and they only prpvide one pillow. Other than that a very pleseant stay.

Red the security desk person was awesome and very helpful and friendly. The showers could be a little cleaner and have more shelves and not be dark until you close the door but other than that it's a great value for the price and the parking pass is nice that it's included very much appreciated that it's not extra for parking like at many hotels. It's very close to the water front and has some nice views from the lounge.

If you ever lived in a residence building while you were at school, you know exactly what to expect here!  They keep the place well cleaned (as much as shared bathrooms in an older building can be, at any rate), and the beds are as comfy as school loft beds ever are, with cozy fleece blankets if it gets chilly.  Lots of convenient outlets for your devices, big desk if you've got some work to get done, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the location's central so you can get anywhere in the city either by walking or a quick bus trip.  Perfect as a base-camp when you've got plans and things to do during your days, although probably not a place you'd want to kick your feet up and spend a whole day in the room (unless you're nostalgic for the halcyon student days of cramming a last-minute assignment into a 24-hour panicked fugue?  You do you).

I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at Dalhousie. Excellent value! Thank you for the kind and efficient welcome and service.

Very nice option instead of a very pricey hotel. My sister and I spent a few days in Halifax and we each had our own room (typical dorm room) and a connecting bathroom. Very basic of course but great for just having a place to sleep. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms also. Didn’t check out any common areas or kitchen or pool. We would do this again.

Very basic accomodation. Shared washrooms could have been a bit less stark. Also laundry facilities should have clearer labeling and instruction. Maybe the students get an orientation but the guests have to guess how to operate the machines and figure out which are the washers and which are the dryers. Also doors on public rooms (kitchen, lounge) didn't always open and there was no notice about when those rooms were available for use.

It was super nice and handy to have my own room with a sink. I felt very safe and comfortable. The only thing I did not like and didn't expect is that the kitchen did not have any kitchen wear so I could not cook my own meals. However, I could use the fridge, though it smelled bad and was full of expired and rotten food which made me hesitant to use it.

Comfortable for solo travellers

Very good and unique experience

Staff was very helpful and room was clean and perfect. As somebody with allergies and sensitivities I very much appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms. We got the suite with 3 private rooms, 2 washrooms and a kitchen with full sized fridge and freezer.  Residence was central to everything we needed for our 3 night stay, quiet and we felt quite safe. Would recommend!

The rooms were very nice with a lot of storage, a desk and a sink which was a huge plus. The bathrooms and showers were always clean and the staff were very kind. The common area/ kitchen area had a stove, mircowave and full fridge which was very nice. The rooms also had a fan. The bed was the perfect size for me the mattress and pillow were actually pretty good considering the accommodation was a school dorm. There was a lot of public transit around but walking to/ from major sites and museums including the harbour front was short. I felt totally safe as a solo female and I would stay again if I was ever in Halifax!

Dalhousie was a great value for the price. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was exceptionally friendly, professional, and helpful. The location was convenient, and my price also included access to the campus fitness center. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would recommend Risley Hall to others.

Single bed. I chose a «double» room. was not aware it was 2 seperate rooms! It was great for my 23 year old son and I. the lady at the counter worked the whole time I was there (sometimes with others) and she was most helpful.Simple and clean rooms.PLEASE look at your desk «chairs» which are in fact a rocking chair and too low to use the desk comfortably with a computer.

The property is very affordable, and in a great location, easy walk to best Halifax attractions (Camp Hill Cemetery, Public Gardens, waterfront, shopping, dining etc). Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are well worn, generally clean. No heating or AC that I could make work, my travel blanket was useful. Very quiet, very good security. Washroom and showers are shared by all guests on the floor. Linen and towels provided. Basic setup, perfect for travelling solo and exploring Halifax. Guests can use Dalplex fitness facility and dining hall (great options didn't use either myself).
