Jose e Maria Hostel Bar

Ouro Preto is amazing - don't miss this city! This hostel was clean and has a great location. Breakfast is nothing special but it does the job. It's served in the common area, which is a large, covered terrace that has a beautiful view. This area is also a nice place to hang out. The wifi worked best in this area -- it was on-and-off in our room. As a couple, we had a "shared" room that had a bunk bed, so we had the room to ourselves. BUT, this room was very small, so if you are claustrophobic, I wouldn't recommend this room. Also, every time one person moved, the entire bunk would shake, so it wasn't the most comfortable. But the mattress itself was comfy, and while we had a "shared" bathroom, we had it to ourselves the first 2 nights; the last night was a weekend and the hostel was more crowded, and the bathroom had more overall use. The bathroom was clean, although I think the shower could do with some more attention. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would def stay here again, although perhaps in a different room.
