Pousada Porta do Sol

Fantastic location across the bay from Vila do Abrao and a completely different vibe from the tightly packed pousadas in the bustling town. Pousada Do Dol is regular hotel rather than student hostel. Two blocks of rooms: the lower block suited to more mature guests. Steps to the second block suited to the young and fit. Verandas with magnificent views. Here you get manicured lawns, sea views and a perfect beach. Grab a kayak and explore the bay - or go snorkelling - we saw turtles gently swimming near the shore. This is a civilised pousada. For the adventurous there's a coastal path that takes 20m or so to get to town tho def not recommended at night. Better to take the boat from the jetty. Great return journey under a starry sky. Apart from the somewhat sedate service (but hey this is Brazil) a faultless destination. Enjoy!
