Camp Kuzuma

We had a fabulous time at Kamp Kazuma.  The accommodation was  luxurious and food superb, we absolutely loved watching the elephants and other animals at the waterhole whilst sitting on a sunbed or swimming in the pool. Adele and Arnu were superb hosts and the rest of the team so accommodating, they simply couldn't do enough to please. Arnu was a fabulous game drive guide, he was so knowledgeable, sadly we didn't spot any large cats but saw lots of other game, including giraffe, zebra, sable etc. 
 We would highly recommend Camp Kazuma.

What a beautiful retreat - away from the 'hustle and bustle' of Kasane - a mere hour's drive away....

The suites are beautifully appointed with the most fantastic views of the bush, elephants passing by in front of you...loved the outside showers!

Fabulous African Retreat.  You feel and know that you are in the middle of Botswana, Africa 😱 but you are still surrounded with luxurious comfort and every thing you need.
Loved having a gin and tonic on the deck while watching huge elephants and their calves drinking from the Lagoon - very surreal - it was like watching a  African movie but it was REAL LIFE - amazing.
Loved the delicious meals.
Loved the full body massage.
Loved the wonderful attention from all at Camp Kuzuma.

Camp Kazuma is absolutely amazing!  
Arno and Adele are outstanding hosts and will ensure you have a great experience at Camp Kazuma.  My wife and I stayed 3 days loved every minute.  The entire staff was very attentive and personable.  The food was delicious.  LT was our game drive guide (and they do go off-road), and he did a phenomenal job tracking wildlife, answering questions, and providing information.   It is a GREAT location considering you will not see any other safari companies while on safari and the on-site watering hole will bring an abundance of elephants and other wildlife right to your doorstep.  It’s one thing to view the elephants on a game drive (primarily eating)  but when you can observe them all afternoon at camp between game drives, you get to see how they interact, care for the baby elephants, and communicate.  I counted 64 elephants at one point.  
There is nothing else like it.  Again, hats off to Arno and Adele for making this stay such an amazing experience.

We can’t thank the Kuzuma team enough for the unique and unforgettably brilliant weekend that we just enjoyed in this miracle of a place.  Picture your best days ever.  We don’t want to spoil the surprise by explaining the wonders that await you at Kuzuma, but know that it is a place of wonder from the first minutes of your arrival at this truly special place on Earth.  

Our beautiful stay was created here by the whole team thanks to their brilliant organisation, care and love, attention to detail (such as snuggle buddy hot water bottles on an early morning game drive), and the heavenly food.  

Adele and Aarno are consumate hosts and the whole team works with knowledge and passion.  Thank you to:  Adele and Arno for your warm welcome and smiling, loving care for every aspect of our stay; LT - you are a superb teacher and guide and gave us the experience of a lifetime to see a savanna sunset and night drive home that we will never ever forget;  Benji and Kay - you are brilliant chefs who nourished our bodies and our souls - we are going to be bringing Botswana home to our kitchens; Meshy and Tshepang thank you both for taking care of us all day long with smiles and hugs like family; we feel blessed to have met you all and so lucky to have had the chance to come here.

Superb spacious lodges with ensuite facilities with both indoor and outdoor private showers. Excellent food and friendly attentive staff. Owners very knowledgeable and friendly. Bar, restaurant and pool overlooking waterhole is particularly special with a constant flow of elephants, impala, kudu, etc and a resident hippo.

I had the pleasure of staying at Camp Kuzuma 3 nights early October 2023.  I am a seasoned traveller; I share about 365 posts on TripAdvisor.

CLEAN
The first impression is important, and I cannot help but scan for the cleaning standards.  OMG, they nail it here.  

This is an authentic tented suite camp connected on a boardwalk.  The suites were extremely clean and dust free.  That is a tall order for a tented suite with mesh walls.  The air circulates … also dust.  The turndown service takes care of the dust from the day.  The morning cleaning takes care of the dust from the night.

The common areas are also very clean, as is the pool and the water in the pool.

AMBIENCE
I have done a lot of safaris – wildlife travelling.  I have never stayed in a camp where the authenticity is this perfect.  Furthermore, I think the tented suites are double the size of any previous superb safari camps, I have visited, and they too have been good.

In your tent you have a lot of sqm. to enjoy.  You are not “wearing” your tent here.  The suite even has two large comfortable armchairs.  Very nice, if you want to relax a bit without being in the shared areas.

The tea tray offers all sorts of drinks including snacks and a very nice local sherry.

LAUNDRY
Done to perfection.

INTERNET
You enjoy powerful internet in the main area, where you will find a little shop, a well-stocked bar, and plenty of seating areas, which allows for both the “get together” feeling, and privacy.

The main area is quite spacious, and there are plenty of m2 between sets of furniture, if you prefer some privacy.

VIEWS
From all the main area, you will enjoy the waterhole that attracts wildlife throughout day and night.  It is amazing.  Even after your (at least) two daily tours, you get to enjoy the wildlife.  Right there – right in front of the patio.

FIRST TIME SAFARI GUEST
If you are a first-time safari guest, (I do remember), and you are a bit cautious about this “wildlife” thing, I am confident you will feel very safe here.  You can slowly “dip in” – do the tours or just enjoy as the wildlife passes by the patio.

Feel assured, there is a fence between you and the waterhole.  It is electric, and you can barely see it.  It does not hurt the wildlife; the animals sense the electricity long before touching this.

You can walk freely to and from the tented suite and the main area all day.  In the evening after dark, you are escorted for safety reasons only.

BEDLINNENS
I have stayed in many places, 5-star hotels too.  I have never experienced bedlinens of this quality, no kidding.  Completely white, crisp, and just a delight to creep into every evening.  The quality of other amenities matches, of course.

MAIN AREA
Very spacious, which allows you to socialise with other guests or to find you own sitting area.  In connection with the dining room, lounge and patio is the pool and the area with deck chairs.  All in one safe area, still each area is well defined.

FOOD
Fantastic. I am vegetarian, and I was well looked after at all meals. Healthy fresh food cooked and served as if it was an upscale restaurant in a capital city.

STAFF
It takes good management to allow staff the trust to do their jobs and serve guests without worrying about stepping outside the box.  My observations here is – all get on, there is no visible hierarchy.  There is a group of people working together to give all guests a unique experience.

WILDLIFE
There is no guarantee.  Wildlife does what wild animals do.  It was amazing.  Lions’ kill of an Eland, jackals’ kill of a duiker, giraffes, hippo, more elephants than I can count, buffaloes, many kinds of antelope like, roan, tsessebe, eland, kudu, impala, sable, hyenas, birdlife, bushes, trees, palms etc.  Before coming out, an agent claimed there would be no wildlife, he is receiving a copy of this text as well and photo documentation.

Our guide Gomes did a fantastic job.  He is knowledgeable, determined and patient.  We watched the lions attack the Eland for so long, the lions decided to move the Eland out of our sight, pulling it across a path into some bushes.  He allowed stops every time we gasped for air in admiration and surprise with all the wildlife.  His knowledge is endless, and he shares his knowledge with you with pleasure.

This visit was quite emotional to me, both due to the hospitality, the wildlife, the stunning location, the spacious tented suites and the comfort and coziness of the shared areas.  It had been a few years since my last safari, I kind of forgot how much Africa and wildlife means to me.  This was my first stop on the tour of 2 countries.

Enjoy – don’t hesitate, you will love it.


Fabulous upmarket glamping  in the African bush. Our tent overlooked the waterhole. Plenty of elephants. The main area is elegant and welcoming. Fabulous hosts and excellent food and drinks. Loved swimming in the pool while watching the Ellie’s. First class experience. Definitely worth a visit. 

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. The facilities and rooms were fantastic. Adele and Arno our hosts were so attentive and their cooking and meals were fantastic. No buffet meals here. The highlight was the waterhole right across from the infinity pool were hundreds of elephants came to drink and bathe every day. Even a hippo visited along with some other animals but mainly the elephants were amazing. 

This is a great bush retreat.  With seven high end tented rooms, it is intimate with direct contact with the environment.  The adjacent year round waterhole hosts a variety of wildlife at all hours -- particularly elephants, but also deer, a hippo, birds, jackals, and even a leopard one evening.  The food is excellent, including fresh baked breads and a variety of truly well prepared and tasty dishes.  But most striking were our hosts, Adele and Arno.  A wonderful couple, they made us feel welcome immediately.  They were a pleasure to spend time with.  Moreover, they were caring and very helpful when a member of our party fell ill -- Arno's background as an EMT was an unexpected bonus.  All the rest of the staff was similarly friendly and welcoming.

This beautiful lodge is truly a hidden gem. The tents are spacious and perfectly positioned for privacy. The main area allows for relaxing on the deck or in the pool, while overlooking a watering hole. The waterhole offers the opportunity to see various wildlife. We had some elephants pass by and it was truly amazing to sit and watch them from the deck area. Thanks to the managers Rob and Shane who looked well after us, and created a beautiful stay we will not forget.
