Shared accommodation that is very clean and hospitable. Kitchen and dining facilities within the guest house is very convenient. Birgit showed us the many amenities that Hopkins and Sittee River had to offer along with the available tours and sites to be seen. We will definitely return.

We had the nicest stay at the Abacus Cabanas in Hopkins. The owner, Birgit, was so nice and accommodating. She found us trying to walk all the way into town from the highway and picked us up. She casually mentioned she had a hotel and it ended up being the best one we could've found. All of the rooms are nice and clean. There is a neat kitchen area and large living room space with tables and chairs. The best part was the fridge she had with a water tap for ice cold drinking water and keeping our beers cold. The location is further south down and a street over from the beach which is conveniently where the water is the nicest and where you are most likely to find a spot to yourself. There are several local restaurants close by and a super market. I would highly recommend staying at the Abacus Cabanas when you visit Hopkins.

This charming little place is run by Clayton and Bridget, who are so lovely and welcoming. Clayton even taught us how to cook a traditional Belizean dish! The location is good if you want to be somewhere quiet. Hopkins itself is beautiful and full of friendly people! 

The chip and good stay ih Hopkins. Service is very good. Clean, friendly, just walk distance to everything you want to go (restaurants, sea beach, bars, food store...). Can not find nothing easy for the that price

The kitchen - dining - lounge area was spacious and nice to hang around in during the evenings. Clayton was full of information and very helpful with our trip to Cockscomb Wildlife Basin. 
The rooms were acceptable. The beds were a little uncomfortable on the wooden pallets, but we managed to sleep ok with a couple of fans keeping the room cool. Location was about a 10 minute walk to the center of town, but the beach was only a 1 minute walk away.

Simply very good

We were very disappointed with this property.   The website photos did not reflect the condition of the rooms or the building.   We were lucky we had the best room in the only "Cabana on stilts" which was spacious and had its own toilet.

The main problem was the lack of water at "peak" times of the day (ie evertime you wanted a shower basically).  The only option was a very basic outside cold water shower which required you to step out into a muddy puddle because there was not drainage.   

Yes Bridget and Clayton were very friendly and helpful, but I am a bit bemused as to the good ratings of this accommodation which prompted me to book.   However, I would have preferred to have paid more for a beachside location and better showering facilities.

At the time we stayed in February 2017 there were building works in progress to improve the showering facilities, but as the work was being undertaken by themselves not sure how long it will take to complete.

It is certainly not a property to book if you intend to "hang around" as the garden is a mess and the bedrooms primitive.
