My husband and I had a great time here. It's a small hotel with a very accommodating staff. The owner, Christine, really cares, and wants you to enjoy your stay. You eat breakfast there, and lunch and dinner out. It's a very good value for the money. The rooms are rustic, but comfortable and clean. It's kind of a family atmosphere. They take you on different fun activities, and because the groups are small, they'll make a quick stop at the store if you need something. We were headed back from a day out, and going by the Belize Zoo, and our driver agreed to stop there for us, and proceeded to guide us through. I have to compliment him. His name is Alvaro, and we enjoyed talking to him, and getting to know him a bit. When we left, we even told him to look us up if he was ever in Chicago. He definitely went out of his way for the group, which was nice. I would definitely recommend Orchid Garden.

Very good experience

We did the 8 day land and sea package with our 2 adult children. We were picked up from the airport and didn't need to worry about a thing. All excursions and meals were planned for us in Belize City and transfers to and from the Caye as well as an excursion there and a really great hotel. We loved every trip planned for us! It was very nice having each detail attended to. The ATM was our favorite day! The tour guides were all local and very informative. All of our group tours were small which was nice too. 

Great family trip

This review may be moot. We have spent the last four days in Belize. We have attempted to call, but there is not an answer. Yesterday we drove to the location. While it seemed somewhat maintained, there was no one at the office or restaurant. We called again today and the phone was answered, but they hung up on us when we asked if the restaurant was open. If this place has closed, it is a loss.

Knock, Knock, Who's There? No One!

My friend and I took a week-long adventure trip that included a stay at this hotel. It is far from the city and definitely for those who like a good wilderness experience. We were able to do some ziplining and cave tubing which were both very fun, and finished out the week with a snorkeling trip to San Pedro. 10/10 recommend this for adventure tours!

Wonderful Hosts, Very Much a Nature Adventure

My now-wife and I stayed here in February 2015, and I've just now gotten the courage to write a review.   We were attracted to the Eco-Village's excellent rating on TripAdvisor.  After staying there, I don't get it.

To start off with the positives, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly.  They want to give you a good experience and help you explore Belize.  There is a gentleman that gives a very interesting oral history of Belize and some of its amazing wildlife and natural features.  I think they also provide reasonable transportation to some of the tour opportunities.  The food was also very good, especially the homemade bread.  The Eco-Village is also centrally located to a lot of the sites in Belize.  We were within an hour of a lot of the things that we wanted to see.  The accommodation was also reasonably priced.  Also, they have wi-fi in the common area, which lets you check your phone when you need, but you aren't burdened by outside communications when you don't want.

Now to the things where we felt we were a little mislead by the reviews.  This place is rustic without the charms you expect when you trade luxury for rustic.  For an eco-lodge, It is located in not a spectacularly nature-ry area.  If you stay here, plan to have activities to do. It's not a place to have a coffee on the porch and take in the natural surroundings for hours.  They have an orchid garden that is pretty neat, but it takes about ten minutes to take that in.  The rooms was clean, but it could use a bit of updating.  I know catering to the whims of modern travelers isn't the purpose of an eco-lodge, but it could use some work on establishing a better connection to the natural beauty Belize has to offer.  

I'm not saying its not for a lot of people.  It's very conveniently located, affordable, and I think they offer reasonable rates to tote you around the country.  But if you are looking for an exotic or romantic getaway, I would search elsewhere.

Good location, but not for everyone

Hello, the staff is exceptional, the drivers Pedro and Alfredo are very friendly. The owner came to visit us every day to plan everything for our days and future meals. The food is excellent. We bought a tour with Viator for a week and stayed here. They respected all the activities and we changed the days of the activities favorably. They considered the weather for the day of snorkeling, at the Pyramid of Lamanai, they avoided the days of cruise disembarkation and when visiting the country with Alfredo, they chose a day when the local markets are open. Moreover, when we arrived and left by plane, driver Pedro brought us to the beach and the swimming pool in the evening and waited for us to the lake. These activities were not at the beach, but they offered us a free shuttle service to our own beach, or to our own beach, or to our own swimming pool in Rijeka, where we could get a very relaxed transportation contract with Pedro Wastor, to make our activities very comfortable, or to our own swimming pool in Rijeka.

Exceptional staff and services, Basic and rustic hotel

I stayed 3 nights in this establishment. Very good welcome room was large, clean everything worked AC refrigerator hot water even though the decoration is a little old c is functional. I toured Lamanai and the well-organized zoo Alfredo or Pedro are good drivers. In the garden you can see a lot of birds of iguanas and acorns. Hattieville is 15 minutes walk to the round point but there is not much 2 small grocery stores but it's down. There's a larger store but it's further out of the village. Breakfast included in the price of the room is very good and the restaurant is very good i ate 2 there.

Good compromise to avoid Belize City

A few days after returning from our short trip to Belize, the sensations of a beautiful experience increase when we recall the experience. Belize is a strangely picturesque country, with very pleasant people and hospitality, -except for almost all migrant workers- The country's infrastructure is limited, old and with little maintenance. The signs on the roads are almost non-existent; let's say that there are strictly the necessary ones, and this represents a challenge for those of us who venture into the car and don't know the place. The towns and cities we pass through seem to be pleasing to the experience, although we have a few exceptions, such as the city of Beelzebub, we would have felt that it was enough to make a good decision, but we could not make a pleasant decision about the final side of the road. In particular, I remember that I had to go back to the land of our ancestors, and that I had to stay in the country for a few days, and that I have come back from the city of Salinas, and that I have a very pleasant experience, and if I have been able to get a good experience with

An unforgettable journey

This hotel is old-fashioned, the tropical garden is a mess without maintenance, the room is poorly furnished and without charm, the view of the tropical garden does not exist, only a small window brings a little light into a dark room. In a hotel that claims to be eco-friendly, respect for nature should not be confused with lack of space. The staff is hospitable, but this is not enough to make the stay pleasant.

What to Avoid

The place is very quiet with a human warmth that made us feel very good.The food was excellent, full of details that show that it has been done with great dedication.The tour of the small museum is interesting.The hospitality of the neighbors who help the owners was very nice.Greetings from the protectors of the jaguars.
