Amazing to wake up each day with kangaroos outside your door. All the facilities one needs to have a nice quiet vacation. Wonderfully responsive and friendly hosts.

Stokes Bay, and thus the cabins, is isolated. Situated on the cliff face, looking north, one is surrounded by silence and peace, mixed with dozens of kangaroos and even some sheep.Nearby is the only restaurant, sadly open only till 5 pm; so bring your own food or consider a drive to Kingcote (sadly with roo-danger for the nightly return.We stayed three nights to have a holiday… make daytime excursions and enjoy evenings at the cabin.Highly recommended, but not if you expect action!

Paul, Katja and Poppy made us welcome from the moment we arrived, and the experience was more than we expected. The cabin we stayed in had spectacular views and an abundance of wildlife visiting us at the cabin. A great experience. Highly recommend anyone to book a few days if you want to get away, experience nature, relax and enjoy the surroundings, including a beach cove. Its also a great place to access all attractions on the island or if you want to just have a spot to stay and relax. We will definitely be coming back. Rob & Cindy A

Greatest place on Kangaroo Island, a lot of wildlife around. The house is large, clean and modern, we really enjoyed our stay there.

A business the 2020 fires has caused alot of heartache for but the owners still ensure you have a great time at their cabins, extra towels to help with our skin problems, a lovely hand written welcome note, bottle of wine, local produce, sunsets at your veranda over the ocean, Not sure what more you could ask for!!!

Forget Sydney Opera House, Kangaroo Island is the place to come when visiting Australia and these cabins are just magic! We had visited the island before and had come back to see how it was recovering following the terrible wild fires. Although the amount of wild-life has sadly diminished and there are still signs of the devastation in parts of the island, the inhabitants (both two and four legged!) have been amazingly resilient and it is just a delightful place to stay.
The cabins themselves are situated on the cliff over-looking idyllic Stokes Bay, which has just been voted one of the best beaches  in Australia (although never crowded on account of its remote location). They are nicely spaced, allowing for plenty of privacy  and are furnished very attractively and comfortably. The kitchen area is well equipped and the fluffy robes provided on a par with the best hotels! The views are spectacular and to be able to hand-feed the wild kangaroos which roam around the grounds and visit the balcony is just the icing on the cake. There are other animals on-site and parrots , pelicans and dolphins frequent the bay and the area. Other than that, it is just a haven of peace and quiet.
The hosts are extremely helpful should you need advice or have a problem.
If only we  could have stayed longer!

We had a wonderful stay and can recommend to all generation to visit Kangaroo Island and stay over in the very comfortable cottage of Katja and Paul. They are so friendly, supporting and take the time to make sure you are feeling welcome and comfortable.

Whilst all of Kangaroo Island is beautiful, Waves and Wildlife delivers when it comes to peace and quiet and engaging with nature. The hosts are very accommodating and friendly. A beautiful location overlooking Stokes Bay with abundant wildlife at your door

Highlight of our Trip to Oz

What a great little hideaway from reality!  The nature and surrounds were just incredible.  Great little cottage although our stove and oven didn't work well or at all on some occasions, and this proved a little difficult as there are no surrounding cafes or restaurants.  I completely understand its been a tough few years for all though.  We would definitely return.  Many thanks Katja and Paul, you are wonderful hosts.

A very unique and unforgettable experience. We had a pleasant three nights stay in a self contained 3 bedroom cottage. The place was very spacious and fully furnished with all the essential amenities.
Walkable distance to the Rockpool Cafe and Stokes Bay Beach, one of the best beaches on the entire island. Amazing sunset views in our very own backyard. 

Paul was an friendly, excellent and an amazing host, who gave us the opportunity to feed about fifty Kangaroos at a time right behind our back verandah. Would not stay anywhere else on the island if we had the opportunity to come back. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Kangaroo Island.

Amazing sunset, walking distance to Stokes Bay Beach and the Rockpool Cafe. A chance to see plenty of Kangaroos. 

We liked it very much for the location n wanted to give 5 star as everything was so ready/provided. But 2 issues I have to mention, the toilet lock was not working/ in useable and the windows blinds- all are broken . The towels are very old too, Need to change ASAP. And the second issue was the smell from the swears. We stayed at number 7 and the bio swear system is just 30 metres away… every evening probably all the units using the shower and toilet then the smell comes out. Please don’t stay at number 7.Other than that all the cutleries, pots , pans , plate , glass everything is Perfect.Giving 3 out of 5 but we Will come here again.

I stayed 2 nights at Waves and Wildlife cottages with my husband during our visit to Kangaroo island. We stayed in a one bedroom cabin, which was clean and had all the necessities required for a comfortable stay including kitchen utensils, heating, and a comfy bed. The location is quite remote which we enjoyed, but there is limited phone/internet reception and the closest place to pick up groceries would be an IGA around 30min drive away. 

The location and scenery is peaceful and stunning with lots of Kangaroos milling around the property during the day. We were fortunate enough to meet Paul and some of his critters which was definitely a highlight of our stay! 

Stunning scenery and wildlife encounters

We spent 8 days at Waves and Wildlife cottages at Stokes Bay and rate the location and accommodation highly. The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable in a fantastic location that overlooks the bay and home to plenty of native fauna. Stokes Bay is a relaxed retreat and perfectly positioned for exploring the rest of the island. Paul and Katja were wonderful hosts and Paul will pop by to involve you in feeding the kangaroos in front of your cabin during your stay, must have been 100 or so roos that turned up. We had a great time exploring Kangaroo Island and really did not want to leave.

Fantastic Location & Accommodation.

I cannot rate these cabins highly enough. Not only do they have an amazing view, they are every well equipped and perfect for both couples and families. The cabins are well positioned so that they all have a view and are far enough apart that you don't notice your neighbours. Except the kangaroos which are everywhere! Much better than your average caravan park cabin and lots of thoughtful touches like board games and decent kitchen utensils. We also received a complementary bottle of wine and Kangaroo island honey even though we had only booked two nights. Great value for money and very friendly place.
