- got charged on arrival but had actually pre paid online - all good though, got reimbursed the morning after- welcoming staff- clean facility

I really enjoyed my stay here! The staff are all great, rooms are big and the communal areas are great. The TV room has a huge screen, lots of films, settees and computers. Perfect for hangover days! The bar area is good - no alcohol sold so it’s BYOB which is good for the budget. Lots of drinking games etc too. Breakfast was lovely - toast, eggs and beans and a proper cup of tea! Just what I needed. Great location too - very close to the beach and bars/restaurants. Would recommend!

Great stay!

My husband and I arrived on a Friday night, we were staying at the place for a week while we were looking for something more definitive. From the beginning, everything went wrong when we arrived, and they received us in a bad way 0 hospitality as we arrived late they didn't want to attend as they had to go to a party apparently. The following days they were summarized as the hostel is managed by the hostel. The same people who stayed and worked somewhere to avoid paying for accommodation, so that on those days there were party doors that were noisy at night, the staff glittered by their absence clearly by themselves er erzos who were paying and ordered without respecting others. EVERYONE could enter our room everyone knew the key that the reception was horrible and everyone could enter. The last day there was a girl who worked in the reception room that was full of food and services, but no one ever knew if anyone would leave the room with a good food and a good meal in the kitchen.

The worst hostel of my life!!

1.- The chek-in is from 2:00 p.m. to 00:00 a.m., upon arrival the reception was closed because it works until 10:00 p.m. if you arrive after the hour you must ring a bell.  Our income was at 10:00 p.m. and in a very bad way.
 2 .- The breakfast are 2 pretty good options which do not offer tea, coffee or juice because they do not have enough glasses or cups.
 3.-Area of ​​dirty bathrooms, hairs in the showers, towels to dry hands stained with chlorine.  Washers and dryers are not enough for the number of people.
 4.- Each room has an access code which is known to all personnel who enter and no leave the room when they feel like it.
 5.-They have no rules of schedules, all night in and out of your room people slamming doors without respecting those who try to sleep.
 6.-Large kitchen areas, but full food refrigerators and lockers there is no room for anything, there is no cleaning for forgotten things.
 7.- On the last day of our stay they had a party for what people entered and left the room slamming and to finish one of the receptionists sleeping with a passenger.  Leave enough to say.
 Horrible stay, I do not recommend this hostel to anyone.

Horrible stay!! 

Free use of both washing machine & dryer, laundry facilities, including the provision of laundry detergent;+ Cable TV; + quick, easy, close by, walking distance, to GLink Tram, Cavill Mall,  Surf Lifesaver Flags @ Surfers Paradise & Northcliff Beaches; yet quiet location.Not good:- the couches! They need to be replaced/upgraded asap, VERY VERY uncomfortable & zilch ergonomic support!  Also, the intermittent, yet repetitive noise, between 12 midnight & 4 AM, JUST below the sleeping/bedrooms, from VERY VERY loud, talking & laughing, SMOKERS!!!

Worst accommodation I have ever stayed in, and probably the most expensive hostel I have ever stayed in. 

Hands down the worst thing about this place is the staff, from the moment we arrived we did not feel welcome. We arrived late so checked in ourselves, we went down the next morning to pay and was greeted with terrible customer service, the woman didn't want to be there or even look at us / talk to us, felt incredibly awkward asking where breakfast was. 

Every hostel I have ever been in before the staff tell you were things are, how the place works etc. Here you had to find out yourself because no one wanted to help or sempt unwilling or put out when you did ask. 

The staff was a big clique of drinking friends, we stayed for 4 nights and every night we were awoken to drunken screams and laughter with banging on doors and walls etc.

There was another man sleeping in our dorm who was complaining about how he has used the hostel times before and if anyone was making noise at night, the night manager would put a stop to it, he was rightfully irratated at the nights of interrupted sleep. 

When we went for breakfast the staff (not all to be fair) we're lounging about laying on sofas talking about their night, who slept with who, who did this etc. Not the sort of conversations you want to listen to when you're having breakfast. We had to move elsewhere to eat because we didn't feel comfortable.  

One morning there was one guy (staff member) taking up a 3 seat sofa, playing YouTube videos on his phone while others were struggling to find somewhere to sit, did not come as a shock when I found out he was working there too. 

We ended up skipping the breakfast on the last day because we had enough of it.

They didn't seem bothered about laying across a full sofa when other guests didn't have anywhere to sit.

We felt like we couldn't complain to anyone cause the only people we saw working were the young travellers. 

We made the effort to share the common areas often but ended up avoiding them because of how we felt.

I saw many new people use the common room on their first day then confide to their dorms after that. 

The kitchen and bathroom facilities are great IF they got respected properly, the hostel has signs up for $20 fee for not washing, cleaning, putting away pots, it seemed that only a few people followed this rule. I saw many workers put their dishes in sink with dirty old water and walk away. Which of course this attracted unwanted bugs. Yes I know bugs can't be helped in Aus, but the amount of them was purely due to the unlimited leftover food they had access to.

The rooms were boiling in the night due to no fan/aircon

I understand this is something that happens in Hostels, its just part of the experience but I have never seen it as bad as it got here. 

I made the mistake of getting a drink of water at night without my shoes or socks on and stood in enough food for a midnight snack. 

I have stayed in Hostels all over Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia and never had an experience like this, we would never return and would recommend others to really think about whether they would want to stay here. 

Please note, that this hostel is like a party hostel, which is why we chose it because usually that means the atmosphere is incredible. I feel like the atmosphere is only good here if the popular staff members allow you to join their clique. We felt like we were the new weird kids at a rough secondary school. There was definitely other guests that felt this way too. 

The only positive I have about this place is the location, its in a great place minutes or seconds from everything you need.

Worst hostel I have stayed in

The best run hostel in Australia. Very well managed, and staff well selected.I was actually impressed! Which is rare.

Some of the backpackers guests are pigs. Despite signs asking them to clean up and CTV cameras they leave dirty dishes with food scraps in the sink and on the TV Lounge table. The ladder to the top double bunk bed in Rm 5 was not fixed to the frame and made a loud noise when used. The facilities are actually pretty good if some of the guests could be more considerate.

I booked with a friend 4 nights in a room for only 6 women, they send me an e-mail on the day of our arrival, a few hours before telling me that they have no place except in a mixed dormitory, or in a female one but we should have changed  room every day.  Upon our arrival my blanket is dirty with the scabs, on the pillow of my friend we find a white substance, the bathroom in very bad condition.  The worst hostel I've ever been to.  We paid for a female dorm and they made us stay in a mixed one, we decide to leave and they didn't refund us anything.

Bad hostel ever

We stayed for one night. The staff were friendly. That’s about it. 
The rooms felt cramped and were a mess, mostly due to other roommates having their stuff lying everywhere. The blinds were rusty and falling apart and the ceilings were old and mouldy. We were beside an exit to the back of the building that seemed to have people hanging around it all night making noise. The hallways smell, the walls and floors are stained with who knows what. There is 2 plug sockets for the entire room (12 people in our room) The shared bathrooms were actually ok. Clean for the most part. Not sure how I feel about 1 towel for everyone to dry their hands on though. Our night was made even better by someone throwing up in our room. This was dealt with quickly by staff, however they bickered about who should be dealing with it while standing in the middle of our room. If you’re coming to Surfers Paradise, id book elsewhere.
