Stayed here for about a week, loved the place.
Food: great food, average price among the hotels and resorts on the Island, a bit pricey for Vietnam, their Cappuccino is one the best I have had on Phu Quoc, but again a bit pricey.

The have a menu for breakfast, 1.5 usd, quite good.

The rooms and installations are fantastic.

Getting up there a bit tricky, the walk is not that bad, but it is better is you rent a scooter.

But what I liked the most is the staff, they all are lovely, especially Nhi, who is the only one with a great English and a great sense of service.

It is a shame the other members of the staff don't speak English so well.

+ Very helpful and accommodating staff with good english and excellent recommendations for good local eateries and customized trip planning. I was on my own and preferred to explore the island first hand instead of some commercial tours, they were more than willing to advise me the best things to do in my 31/2 day stay. Plus a nice touch: I got 1 free welcome drink in a quite hot day.
+ Excellent view from room/bar over the town, esp. sunset view from the bar with nice deco and elegant layout. 
+ Decent clean dorm room with hair dryer, aircon, individual magnetic locker, towels available to borrow with a deposit of 100vnd apiece. Though the bar n the rooms are connected, music was on till around 10pm only and not too loud anyway,   I could still enjoy quiet sleep. The vast grass space at dorm entrance brought a  relaxing feel to me too. 
+ Signature net balcony around rooms to chill or chitchat, a very comfy and fun play corner. 
- No slippers though. The first part of the route from the trunk road to the hostel (15-20 meters) at the time of my trip was dirt road with no light, a bit thrilling there but I heard it was going to be paved soon. The common female toilet was a bit smelly at some points of day time, but i guess that's acceptable as it was cleaned n smelled nothing the next day. 
Overall, definitely a recommended hostel to chill in Phuquoc.

88 Hilltop Hostel is the best place to stay if you want to enjoy the great panoramic view of the sea and main town of Phu Quoc. By contrast, it’s not a good choice if you want a beach side experience. 

The best selling point of the hostel is its rooftop bar, aka Chuon Chuon, which resides on the top of a high hill. From the bar you can see the whole town of Duong Dong, the sea and mountains. The space is so well-designed that just sitting there, enjoying the view and sipping a drink feel wonderful. Not surprisingly, the bar is well known among locals as one of the best places for sunset view.

The rooms downstairs are minimal in design but new and clean, partly because the hostel was opened just a year ago. The beds in the room were comfortable, not too hard, not too soft, just about right. The whole room and bathroom had a pleasant mango smell thanks to some hidden air fresheners (although a little overpowered IMO).

I booked a room with view and highly recommend it (either R102 or 103) because it has has a large window from top to bottom that brought a refreshing and luxurious feeling. The rooms without view only have little windows near the ceiling for ventilation. If you are on a budget, however, you can still book these rooms and spend time chilling out in one of the huge rope nets next to the sitting area. These rope nets are a lovely place to enjoy the open air while reading a book or chitchating with friends. Although I had a whole room for myself on the day of my booking, I found myself lying down in the nets most of the time, even at night (and paid the dearly price of several mosquito bites.)

The staff here are very friendly. When I brought food from outside and asked them to re-heat it for lunch, they did it quickly with smiles and even decorated the dish with some fresh herbs as if they’re serving their own dish to me. They didn’t seem to mind that I was not paying a dime in their bar/restaurant. FYI, the drinks here are rather expensive, and my local friend said the quality was so-so compared to other coffee bars along the main road. But I really enjoyed the free iced lemongrass tea they gave me upon checking in, so your mileage may vary.

On the minus side, the bathroom is small (only 1 toilet in the lady's room), fairly basic and on a different floor from the rooms. Solar water heating system was slow to work. No in-room slippers. The coffee bar may be crowded at lunch and dinner time because many locals come here besides hostel guests. The lane from the main road to the hostel has a part that hasn’t been paved and still dark at night, so it might be a problem for those who walk on foot.

The A/C in room 102 is on the corner so the beds that directly face it (beds #7-8) may get colder air flows. Room 103 has a more symmetric layout, i.e. the air conditioner is in the middle, and all bed are directed towards the large window so each has a little of view.

Excellent hostel

Fabulous view from the top!

The rooms (especially bathrooms) where full of mold. I never been to sensetive of mold before, but I got sick right away and had trouble breathing and sleeping the first night. We booked two night but unfortuntly we had to leave after the first night. We didnt get a refund for the second night, wich was annoying since I clearly got sick and the clearly knew about the mold , cuse they had put alot of scented candles everywhere to cover up the smell. 
We stayed in a dorm room, so Im not shure about other rooms. Pretty sure the mold came from bathrooms thought since they are one level below all the bedrooms. 

Otherwise, a great location and supercool view over the Island. Great food and resturant.

Beatiful view but full of mold.

I booked two nights and unfortunately I didn't stay one. The hotel was very nice and the staff very good but my bed had bedbugs. When I was moved to a different bed I also saw signs of bed bugs. They refunded me one night and were very apologetic but for me bed bugs are a very big deal.
