Chelsea Inn Hotel

We had our hotel in downtown cancel us because their cleaners didn’t arrive. Stranded at the airport at midnight with every hotel we called in the city booked. We got to the Chelsea and they had a room. Front desk attendant helped get out bags into the building. Very nice guy, he even warned us that the area was not very nice and encouraged us to move on the next day. The accommodations are dated, it is a rough place but the staff is very helpful and put us in the safest room that he had. Very close to the front desk which is attended 24/7. I would recommend if your in a pinch and need a room, I have stayed at worst places (in my 20s). I felt plenty safe in the room. Outside the room, well… it’s in a rough neighborhood. If you have a firearm, Alaska is a firearm friendly state. If you are intentionally staying here it’s not a bad idea to have the added comfort considering the neighborhood. Overall, I rated very high because the staff was amazing. The accommodations are rough mostly because of the people that frequent the surrounding area. The establishment can’t help that and a bed is many times better than sleeping on an airport chair.
