This was our 3rd visit this year, March, May - a good time to visit as the blossoms were out.  Finally, October at harvest time. There is a working cider orchard and ciderery. They make some of the best ciders I've drunk. There is always a couple of bottles of their cider in the fridge to sample along with a cider apple cake. Yummy
Breakfast is large and excellent. Hillary is always welcoming and friendly.
The property is in a rural location but is close to Ross on Wye and Simmonds Yap 
We look forward to going back in 2024 


Excellent short break, very relaxing stay.
Hillary was a great host giving us a real ‘home from home ‘ experience.
Breakfast was superb, setting us up for the day.
I would happily recommend a visit to Broome farm and the cider gets five stars too!

One of our most memorable stays on our trip.
We felt very positive about the facilities. The breakfast menu was amazing and portions very generous. Nothing was too much trouble for our host, Hilary.
We stayed in the comfortable junior suite which had everything we required to make our visit feel like home.

We could not fault our stay at Broome farm. Hilary greeted us on arrival and instantly made us feel welcome. We had a fridge full of goodies to welcome us and a delicious home made cider cake and gluten free home made chocolate brownies too. The breakfast was 1st class and  we never left the breakfast room feeling hungry.  Hilary pulled out all the stops to accommodate for my coeliac disease, there was gluten free cereal and bread and the full English breakfast included GF sausages and GF black pudding, the home made butter and jam just made it perfect.
We visited to the Yew Tree inn, which is also part of the cider farm, to watch the rugby on the TV and got talking to Bob over a pint. Bob stays & works on the farm, he offered to give us a tour of the cider farm in the morning, and true to his word we were given a very enlightening & informative tour of the cider making process, followed by a taste testing. We inevitably purchased a dozen bottles to take home with us. 
I would truly say that we would love to return, not only because the room and food were excellent, but mainly  because of the warmth and generosity of Hilary.

What a little gem. Room was lovely had a lovely Romeo and Juilette balcony. The breakfast was fantastic. I would choose it as my last meal if I was on death row. Hillary was a fantastic host nothing was to much trouble. Mike who owns the cider brewery is a font of knowledge and passionate about the quality cider they produce. The cider tour was fasinating and well worth the cost. The sampling was an eye opener. A couple of cases can be added to my last meal.
We enjoyed our stay immensely  so much so we booked another weekend away in a couple of months time

Stayed here for 5 nights. Nice and quiet location. With a pub in walking distance for a good pint in the evening. And another pub a short drive for evening tea. The hosts were nice and friendly, good breakfast and the blueberry jam was great, homemade along with the bread. Dog friendly although due to some owners rules have been put in place, like not allowed in the breakfast room or left in the bedroom alone. So breakfast the dog goes in the car or you eat in shifts, which the owners will accommodate. This is a working farm but you are able to explore the apple orchard, which are used to produce cider. All in all a very good relaxed stay, local to forest of dean. 

A truly wonderful place to stay.  We felt like part of the family.   What a cook Hilary is!  Outstanding hosting from both John and Hilary and we so enjoyed talking to Hilary’s Mum and meeting the dogs and cats around the farm.  We adored our stay and will be back.

From the moment we arrived at this fantastic place we knew we'd found a new home from home. John and Hilary are such lovely and welcoming hosts. The location is beautiful and in a quiet rural setting. We stayed 2 nights in the wonderful Cider Suite which is full of character. On entering the room we loved little kind touches like homemade cake and a jug of cider and fresh milk in the fridge. The bed was very comfortable and the room spacious and clean with all the facilities you could wish for. The large bathroom was stunning - a fantastic bath and shower along with a relaxing infinity mirror. And all the complimentary toiletries were of high quality. The breakfast was one of the best and most original we've ever had. As vegetarians, we were delighted with all the fresh fruit and yogurt along with the superb cooked breakfast and the unique Huevos Rancheros. The breakfast room itself is full of history and fascinating paintings done by the owners ancestors. When we had checked out, we took a pleasant walk around the surrounding orchards before returning to the farmhouse sitting room to do some reading. While there, Hilary kindly gave us some coffee and cake. We also really enjoyed meeting her mum Pam - a remarkable and interesting lady. We can't wait to return and would definitely choose the Cider Suite again.

Great hosts, wonderful grounds. Walking distance to a couple of pubs. Quiet.. you will sleep well.

Wow. What can I say. It was really hard to return home after the most relaxing and pleasant weekend stay at Broome Farm.

Welcomed with a friendly wave by Hilary and a handshake, we were guided to the cider suite. Hilary offering a hand with bags was a kind touch and when we stepped into our room- it was so beautiful. My boyfriend had booked a surprise weekend trip and it did not disappoint. Comfortable and peaceful in the most relaxing setting. 

Cider and fresh milk, gorgeous teas and a pod coffee machine in the room was a wonderful touch- not forgetting the home made loaf cake! I have never been treated to such homemade delights in previous stays at hotels. 

A comfortable room and a great night sleep with comfy furniture and a huge amount of storage. I must mention the incredible shower and bathroom suite. Just wow.

A final mention, the breakfast! The most ripe and tasty fruit, and the full English! Quality meat and fresh eggs. From the fresh apple juice to the tastiest marmalade- delicious!

John and Hilary treated us like kings in their home and we will be back for sure for more local cider and the most comfortable of stays. Thank you for such a gorgeous weekend- the peace and quiet was much needed and nothing was too much trouble. Even John coming out to wave us goodbye was a caring touch. Can we move in?

Perfect rural retreat

A wonderful stay, I would love to move in!

Broome Farmhouse is very easy to get to and is on a regular bus route with village shop, post office and pub nearby. Ross is walkable for those inclined. 
The farmhouse is surrounded by orchards and is magical. Hosts are charming was offered tea and lots of cakes on my arrival. There is a lovely patio and lounge where you can watch the sun disappear behind the orchards.
Room in house was superbly clean, quiet with a huge drinks tray and water for drinking. Lots of magazines and books/games in the house.
I was offered tea and cake every evening when I came back from walking.
Excellent place for walks with Sellack Hoarwithy, Wye Valley walk and other trails so close. 20 minute drive to Hereford and 5 mins to Ross. Close to Symonds Yat and borders.
Benjie the cat is a cutie.

Enchanting, relaxing and special

I stayed here on business last week, the b&b is located in the middle of nowhere which is completely ideal for a relaxing break. The owners of the b&b were more than helpful to accommodate early morning breakfasts due to leaving for work etc. I would absolutely recommend to stay here for couples or a relaxing break on your own. The garden is perfect for sitting with a book, especially in the sun. A rustic vintage back to basis' b&b which excellent service.
