Lydgate House Hotel

A warm and personal greeting on arrival set the scene for a wonderful stay at Lydgate Hotel. Kelly, Sarah and John are all very approachable and will do everything that they can to enhance your stay. The Hotel is ideally situated for walks on the moors, or short drives to other central Dartmoor areas. The room we had was a double-aspect corner room, giving lovely views of the surrounding areas. The cooked breakfasts were varied and expertly prepared, using local ingredients as well as home-made honey, marmalade and jams, although the fruit selection was tinned produce, perhaps some fresh fruit would have been nice as well. The nod to local ingredients continued to the meals provided for the evenings as well. Again, thoughtfully prepared and accompanied with a small, but excellent choice of wines. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and it was interseting chatting to any of our hosts about life on the moors, the history of, and how they have developed, the hotel.
