The Wild Tusker

Whole hearted service with extraordinary cooking skills.
We provided the ingredients but we got the best out of the best food.
We stayed for two nights.
Good privacy.Given attention every time by the three staff members.
Highly recommended place and the service.But cirtainly mind blowing food making skills.
We checked out on 27th August 2023.


Located close to the Yala national park, a perfect bungalow to rent out for large groups, the Staff were extremely helpful. the pool over looks a lake and they have a small roof top area with stunning views, the food was some the best we had while on our trip! 

A big thank you to the staff for making our stay comfortable and homely, we will definitely be back again :)

We occupied the down stairs two bedrooms which have A/C and hot water, Upstairs is dormitory accommodation with fans and mosquitoe nets. The house has a cook and a caretaker and they are both very helpful ad pleasant. They have set menu's and you can choose the food and they cook great authentic Sri Lankan food. They can provide extra food on request. There is lake behind the house and when we were there the pool was being prepared to be available to guests. Elephants visit the lake and go past the house. When we were there an Elephant tried to get into the property. The property has a fence and an electric wire to protect the property. Great place to chill out and also visit the National Park to see wild animals. .

My favourite place of stay in Yala is The Wild Tusker as it combines both the wild natural setting of Sri Lanka with rustic architecture and luxury accommodation. The ambience of piece, tranquility and the sounds of the wild that surrounds the lodge is simply amazing. The dramatic views of the tank overlooking large verandahs was a constant invitation to snuggle with a book in the hammock with iced fresh juice served by the friendly staff. Happy that a pool is being added....looking forward to a dip after a hot day. The staff prepared tasty Sri Lankan meals. Very friendly and kind. The rooms had A/C and running hot water in wash rooms.

Perfect Location!

A quite and comfortable place to stay close to Yala National Park

The Best wild Experience

We stayed there for 2 days. Great location just outside yala national park. Food for very good, though they can have a bit more variety. Friendly staff, and a good pool. The rooms very air conditioned but due to some power fluctuations it was horrible. That is something needs big time attention. Not much of other activities. Good place to relax. Security wise it was good. 

Great location, needs improvement

We are two french tourists and we are very disappointed about this place. The place is nice and the facilities are ok but when you arrive in a place like that as a tourist, you expect a certain level from the staff. You expect some advice and guidance about what to chose for your safari. The staff was no help at all for that and we got scammed in front of him by the guy who drives us here. We paid twice the price for the safari!!!, the guy lied to us about everything and everything happened in the hotel right under the nose of the staff. In a good hotel, such things would never happen. The staff in place is only one person who seems nice but barely speaks english. He is doing a good job taking care of the rooms, the breakfast and dinner. But a real receptionist with a good level of english is absolutely necessary as the place is completely isolated.
