Quinta do Lagar

Just returned and can say what a great base and chill place. Don’t expect 5 star as this is back to basics and suits certain people. We arrived mid afternoon and given the key by one of the housemaids who are there daily Madalina and Lorissa. The site is a great base to reach lots of great locations on the Algarve with Albufeira bout 20mins in the car. Gale beach 10mins. Zoomarine and Aqualand bout 10-15 mins. Local supermarkets nearby easy reach by car not ideal if no car as roads are busy and non existent footpaths. You can hear traffic from to road nearby till bout 10pm. Accomadation is basic but ok. Beds were a bit uncomfortable for us but may be ok for others. No toilet roll allowed down the toilet and to be placed in bin. Shower and tap water is slightly salty. Towels are available and ours unfortunately were changed after 5 days. The pool is ok sometimes cloudy. There are limited sun beds so if a couple of families are there then can be unfortunate. Would have liked to have seen a lot more loungers allocated around the site on some grassed areas and even the round forecourt at top end with parasols. Evenings there was a good place to sit which was behind apartments 1-4. A few nice benches to watch the sunset in the cooling breeze would be a great touch. We just took our white seating. Be prepared for mosquitos as they are in abundance at night. We had plug ins in each room, lit citronella candles and I created a spray of a few drops of tea tree oil mixed with water creating a cooling spray and deterrent as I had one small bite on my finger. The owners are welcoming and I will be returning. I couldn’t find much info on these apartments prior to visit so I hope this helps.
