Alpine Chalet Sauter

During our trip to Val Gardena and The Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park in May this year, it was coincide with a Saturday, Sunday and a Whit Monday. May is a shoulder period in which most of the hotels, restaurants and attractions are closed as the ski season ends and most hikers are not ready to arrive to the gorgeous mountains of The Dolomites until mid of June. Looking for a base to explore this unique and beautiful country side in the Italian Alps can be challenging and we were fortunate enough to find one right in the center of San Vigilio. We met the host Helga and Trebo who are very helpful and warmth and Alpine Chalet Sauter is a family run apartment, together with a big super market on the ground floor of the building. We stayed for 4 nights in the unit featuring a balcony with mountain views, fully equipped kitchenette and dishwasher etc. Cleanliness and decoration of the spacious 2 bedrooms is top notch, coupled with the easy accessibility of public transport and availability of easy walking trails nearby, we were indeed surprise that it was so convenient, peaceful and pleasant during our stay there. We had our best pizza of our 3 weeks trip in Italy in a restaurant just a minute walk away. We shot some of our best pictures at Lake Prag (Lago di Braies), a mere 50 minutes-drive away. We shopped at some nice shops which surprisingly still opened in this little village even at this low season… we just feel like coming back again, hopefully really soon.
