TheArtemis - Perissa Hotel

We needed a break where there were options to go out and see things / immerse ourselves in some culture and simply relax by the pool. This is a quiet family run hotel 5 minutes walk up from the village of Perissa. The family go out of their way to make the holiday go well for you. I have recently found that I have a milk intolerance; Maria went to buy me a carton of Almond milk and they made sure that there were milk free options for breakfast. The coffee is great! We booked through Jet2 and had a basic room on a B&B booking. The room was comfortable, without being fussy. The bed was great, the bathroom a decent size, there was air-conditioning, a small safe and a little fridge. The hotel has a lovely pool area with good quality food and drinks served from the bar, again served by a member of the family. Some of the local hotel pools have very little screening from the road, but this is tucked away behind a wall for a little privacy. You can also buy bottled water from the bar, as the desalinated water in the taps is definitely not for consumption. In other places we have experienced bottled water being sold for silly prices in the hotels, but not in Santorini, and definitely not at this hotel. The pool is actually large enough to swim laps with a little shallow area for children and a whirlpool area at on end. Lots of loungers and some trees & parasols for shade for those of us who are not sun worshippers. The family work hard to keep the hotel in good condition, and the public areas were a credit to them. There's plenty to do and see in the area, and fairly regular and cheap public bus services from the village, so if you're not comfortable driving there's no issue getting around. You are looked after so well at the Artemis Hotel that it's no surprise that many people are repeat customers. We met a few repeat customers while we were there, and we were only there a week. I've never had so many hugs and good wishes when we checked out of a hotel. We were given instructions to come back, and Maria waved us off from the gate. It's lovely to be treated as a family friend when you go to a new place.
