Hotel Modrava

Very nice hotel in a great location in the heart of Sumava. The restaurant was also very nice, very good food, big portions and nice staff. We  stayed here four days and were very satisfied with everything. The hotel is older, but very romantic.

Hotel is located right next to busy road, but it is busy only during the day - and you will probably be away. They have quite big parking place on the opposite side of the road. Our room was big and clean (little bit dated), thankfully we were above the restaurant so the wifi was working. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Each food we had in their restaurant was simply amazing and yummy, don´t have any complaint. Also breakfast was always great with many options - just didn´t like the coffe... but I guess "breakfast coffee" in hotels are all bad :-) As far as I remember there was also a kid room.
I rented bike in the hotel and we went for a ride... there are many beautiful roads for riding and walking. Šumava is very different from Giant mountains, where I am living.
I had just one issue and it was with the kids there.... I am 100% sure that they were the owner´s kids/kid... because their behaviour was horrible... slaming doors all the time, yelling and behaving simply "bratish" - I also grew up in the hotel and I had to be respectfull.... 
Overall very nice experience...

We went for a dinner to this small cosy hotel where all the staff us friendly and welcoming. We tried uruguay beef filet with plum chutney and it was for us the best meat meal ever. Taste,tenderness and proper cooking was 101%. Go and try it since this hotel was great in cooking for the last 15 years since I know it and never had a bad meal

Best uruguay beef filet in Europe

Very nice hotel

After many years i decided to come back to this hotel and it was not a good idea. I booked our room few months ahead to avoid any issues...it didnt help. 
On the arrival we found out that our room is twin one, i was told that i had to specify it. Of course no other double was available so i moved furniture little bit and of course beds were not really fitting together - thats life, but what was less pleasant was mess under the beds. 
Month was cold only 10 C outside, but its summer so heating is realy symbolic. That doesnt help to enjoy Your room. And last jokes we found in the bathroom see the pictures, wholes in the towels and interesting electro installation - balkan style.
So after all not much left perhaps only good location, but thats not enough to come back again.

Dissaponted

We stayed in Hotel Modrava 3 nights in the end of January. Our apartment (top floor under the roof) was presented for 4 adults - in reality, there was a double bed for 2 and then 2x youth type (3/4) bed. Apartment had no shower corner, only tub with confined space (leaning roof - adult can't stay straight) and toilet was in the bathroom (in apartment presented for 4 adults). Our stay included breakfast, but that was another not well managed experience - hotel was at the time full of a tour and although breakfast was starting at 8am, first serve was gone immediately and some refills of (anything to eat) came 8.30-8.40, so although personnel was doing its best, simply hotel was not ready to manage such capacity. Confirmed Sunday, when most guests left and breakfast was fine. Overall, not worth of what we paid.

Only place we could get at winter - service behind expectations

It was raining so we had to sit inside. Food was okay, so was the staff. They serve the biggest liver dumplings I've ever seen :-) What really put me off was the heavy smell of burner fat from the kitchen. All clothes can be washed after 2 hour visit. Sorry, but get a better (or any) fan!!
