Laozhaishan Inn

This cosy little guesthouse run by a lovely local family is located at the bottom of Laozhai Mountain and directly opposite the dock in Xingping. The location is great - away from the main street which is currently undergoing a lot of construction - so you can escape from the dust and construction noise. We had booked a superior double room which appeared to be the best room in the guesthouse. It was a little small but very comfortable and had an attractive bathroom, a balcony and picture window with a beautiful view over the water. Our bed was very comfortable and we were impressed with the instant hot water. The bathroom wasn't very practical though - it had just a handheld shower over a bathtub and no shower curtain or screen which meant that water went everywhere. The scenery was very beautiful but being near the dock meant that there lots of loudspeakers, tour groups and noise from boat engines and boat horns. This is not a full service hotel - our room did not get serviced at all during our 4 night stay so by the end of our stay it felt very dusty. However it was extremely good value for money and the dumplings they make for breakfast are amazing!
