I think RiverView hotel is perfect and Yangshou was my favourite location in China. The River View Hotel was reviewed in Lonely Planet as being a bit noisy and that the restaurant was "old fashioned"... I didn't have the same opinion. The hotel is well positioned in a quiet position away from the bustling West Street, which is still conveniently close (about a 5 minute walk). We had a river view room and that was delightful, great bed, air conditioning, a bowl of fruit on arrival. The bathroom was small but fine. The restaurant menu was extensive, well priced, loads of western options that were delicious. The cocktails also and gorgeous view of the mountains and the Li River rolling by. Wonderful. The marvelously efficient Vivianne on the front desk speaks excellent English and can arrange well priced day tours, airport transfers etc. This hotel is highly recommended.
