Anglebury House

A lovely hotel with excellent restaurant in the evening. We had the "Lawrence Room" which was spacey and comfortable. I would be VERY happy to stay again(and probably will) In very easy reach of all sites on Isle of Purbeck or just browse around this lovely little town.

We used Anglebury house as a base as we wanted to go to monkey world.
Our room was not small but not too large either the bed was nice and comfy  the shower room was spot on  we had tea and coffee in the room 
The breakfast was fantastic and plenty of it    Dinner time was much of the same   Delicious food and the chips were the best ever.
So much history associated to this building.   Lawrence of Arabia 
Used to live in room 1.  And had a favourite place to sit and entertain 
We had our breakfast in his spot   Which was wonderful

Tam was absolutely WONDERFUL. I have a lot of allergies, and she and the chef went out of their way to make a meal fit for a queen for me. The Lawrence room was fantastic, I slept wonderfully. Such a beautiful, home-like hotel. Thanks for preserving the history! Highly recommend! Tam, you are the best!

What an unusual find. We were looking for somewhere to eat and friends recommended the Anglebury House. To be totally honest looking at it it was not the sort of place we would have normally chosen but it was wonderful. In the nicest possible way it was like stepping back in time. Good old fashioned dining experience with wonderful efficient staff. The food was excellent and sensibly priced. We will certainly return. The highlight for my wife was sitting in the same seat that Lawrence of Arabia used to use

Stayed the night here with my son and his friend as visiting the tank museum 10 mins away, we stayed in the family room number 1. What a charming little place full of character and the room was lovely, really quiet and comfy beds we all slept well after the drive from Norfolk and enjoyed the full English breakfast. Thanks very much. 👍😃

This old building is so full of charm.  The staff are lovely and friendly.  Room not over big but ok.  Food was amazing both evening dinner and breakfast which was enough for two.  We will be going back next year .

A very pleasant and very reasonable place to stay. Lawrence of Arabia wasn't wrong to frequent it as the staff are charming and the lovely old building has surprisingly spacious and light bedrooms and public rooms. I arrived pre-checkin to unload before a local event, and was helped very promptly and kindly, without fuss. I then arrived back very late in a thunderstorm, needing to check in, called ahead, and, again, was treated so calmly and courteously and my bag was even carried up by the proprietor. This kind of uncompromising welcome is rare in any kind of hotel, and this one gets full marks as a great place to stay.

I was accommodated at short notice and had a very comfortable night followed by hearty breakfast even though my  online  booking was completely for the wrong night, it was all taken care of amicably, thank you. 

We called here on the way home from Weymouth. Made very welcome. The lady was very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble they even made omelettes for my sister in law and myself as we didn’t want a large meal and they were very tasty. Thank you. There is such a lot of history to this place and it is all documented on the menus. They have loads and I mean loads of charming tea pots dotted all around. We all had puddings and they give you such a large portion and the6 are so yummy. It is very well priced for the quality of the food and the portions. Will visit again when in the area. I stayed for two nights at this venue which is full of character. I only had the breakfast once but it filled me up for the day, absolutely great and lots of it. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. Ideally located for visits to Corfe castle, Poole and Swanage amongst others.

Great place to stay and eat.     We are going back.

A trip into T. E. Lawrence's Dorset!

Booked well in advance for a wedding on the South coast.
As 3 adults and a child we had the family room, 1 double bed and 2 singles with ample space and decent bathroom.
Breakfast was outstanding, choice of cereals, juice, tea or coffee. The menu also included toast or croissant, yoghurt/granola or various cooked breakfast options and the quality very good.
Nice place to stay, ideal location for our stay and a reasonable price.
The only negative was the downstairs restaurant don't have high chairs, very strange considering children are accommodated... minus 1 star for that.

As you would expect with such an old and not so big building in the high street, the rooms (as stated by the hosts ahead of booking) are not large, including the bathroom.  However, given that, we were comfortable enough and the bed, whilst a small double which my wife was initially concerned about for size, was very comfortable and we slept well (a single bed was also available in the room if required).  The building is very characterful and the location was convenient, though parking difficult.  Breakfast was included with various traditional English breakfast options as well as vegetarian.  Concerned about evening meal as it was ready very quickly but actually it was very good (lamb shank / rainbow trout).  However, beware that Tax is added to your food bill (not service charge), making it not so good value, comparitively – very unusual and I’ve only seen this is the States before now.

Central location, small rooms but comfortable

I stayed here as was en-route visiting a friend near swanage. Hotel is in a listed 15th century building which gives its own charm and quirkiness to the place. 

Room was ok and well appointed with a decent shower. You might want to consider a separate chair for the desk as the ones provided were a little low. 

Bed was too soft and could feel the springs in room 4. Perhaps the mattress needs changing?

Good range of breakfast items and a personalised service and attentive staff.

Adequate hotel served its purpose

An absolutely charming little place made even better by the excellent customer service. 
Spotlessly clean, good sized room with toiletries supplied together with ample tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. 
The staff work so hard (particularly one lady who was constantly on the go) and are incredibly courteous and helpful.
An excellent breakfast (plenty of choice too) followed by a late check out made for a wonderful,  relaxing couple of days.
Also central to Wareham and the surrounding attractions of Dorset.
Would definitely recommend.

Room was dated but comfortable. Building itself is lovely and very quirky. Breakfast was good and service very friendly. reasonably priced for what it is and a good place to base yourself out of for the local area. parking is tight but we got a spot.
