Cardoh Lodge

I read the negative reviews and it put me off but this is a lovely family run hotel and literally 2 minutes from the tower and dungeons. Our room was basic, but very clean. It had kettle and tea etc flat screen etc. It's £10 deposit for remote in the room and the key. The owner was saying people in the past have stolen towels, and the bloody tv remote for god's sake (scrubbers) so she started with the deposit thing but we got the £10 back at check out I'd say it's more for couples and families with children. It's not for stag and hen Do's because its pretty quiet. The owner is absolutely lovely, and accomodating Also she speaks fluent German too which is a bonus for those on their holidays from Germany. We were with Swiss Germans and they were able to chat over breakfast. I didn't see any cats or dogs but the owner said she did have them in her living quarters but they weren't roaming around like some reviews and we were there for a long weekend. I'd recommend this place for a central location and cheap price and clean bathroom. It's basic but we never spend time in our room we were out seeing sites and watching illuminations. This place was just passed coral island so perfect for watching Friday fireworks. The bar downstairs stairs was open until 11-12 for a tipple after the fireworks and it's nicer than a prom bar haha but each to their own. I noticed the room next to ours had a family in and it had bunk beds and a double bed too which is great for taking the kids to pleasure beach and the tower etc Parking is hard work. I went round the block three times before I got a space. You only get one hour though so dump luggage then park in the big car park at the bottom of the road near Coral island. Hope this helps.
