Friendly staff, food very good and lovely choices. Cosy bar area. Our room was a good size and had a nice modern bathroom.

Lovely stay at this lovely pub/hotel. Great room and the food was fantastic. Only downside - I am diabetic and asked if I could put a ice block in the hotels freezer for a couple of hours then put back with my insulin, which was refused.

We stayed here whilst attending a Caravan Trade Show at the Harrogate Showground, which is situated not far away.  The room had everything you required.  The food in the bar was excellent.  The staff were very friendly and efficient.Thank you for a lovely, relaxing stay.

This is simple b and b accommodation but importantly it’s comfortable clean with good in room facilities and welcoming helpful staff. Value for money is tremendous and the pub restaurant is much the same. Great stopover on the way back to Scotland. Will be staying again!

What a fantastic find this is. The room is lovely & has everything we need. The staff are amazing and so lovely, friendly & welcoming. We dined in the restaurant which was beautiful, the food didn’t disappoint with again fantastic service. Definitely recommend this one 👍

Absolutely amazing place to stay. Warm, friendly staff, excellent location and incredible food. This really is an exceptional place with an impressive team of people. One of the best places I've stayed in a long time. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Brilliant.  We stay here quite regularly. Beautiful gardens lovely food and service. Marcus and the staff are lovely. I was sad to see complaints about the Bar Manager who was on holiday. He is indeed a character and  can appear brusque. Those who go regularly love how he  is and how he speaks to people. The man is hilarious if you have a sense of humour. He is typical Yorkshire Folk!

Went to this nice country pub and restaurant on a Wednesday evening and had a very nice meal. The menu has something for everyone and I would definitely recommend the Pie of the Day. On the day we went it was Pork and Mushroom in rich gravy served with chunky chips and a selection of vegetables. The Cod Loin Linguine was also enjoyed and very filling. The staff were welcoming and engaged with all the tables in the restaurant. A good choice of wines and beers are available. There is also a wonderful garden area that can be used for dining if the weather allows. Plenty of parking to the rear of the pub with access directly to the bars and garden. 

Well worth a visit

We had a day out in Knaresborough and wanted to have a nice dinner out. After looking online we found this place, and wasn’t disappointed! The food was very good quality and the prices were all very reasonable!! We were the only ones dining but that doesn’t bother us, I like the quietness 😂 we have a pub ourselves and understand the struggle of bringing customers in on a weekday. The decor was lovely and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Definitely recommend here

Great quality with reasonable prices

This inn was the perfect stopover on a long journey between London and Scotland with a dog. Staff were really friendly and welcoming (to us and dog!) We had a lovely 3 course meal in the cosy bar - complete with log fire. The room we stayed in (room 2) was big enough for a huge comfy bed, sofa and still room for a big dog bed. En Suite shower room had a good sized shower and everything was spotless.

Dogs are welcome in the bar, just not the actual restaurant, which is fair enough- there is a nice area for eating in the bar. 

A large car park behind the inn with a grassy area beyond where we let the dog out. 

Only 10 mins to get back on the A1 in the morning.

Perfect overnight stay

Just as you give up hope for local cuisine, the Bay Horse Inn Goldborough is a refreshing change from the food the local pubs have been churning out.
Visiting with friends we had a fantastic meal the menu catered for all our dietary requests. The standard of the food surpassed the local pub grub, Eric, Ian and the team really do know how to cook delicious food.
The front of house service was excellent, attentive throughout the whole afternoon, we arrived at 2ish and left for 6pm a delightful afternoon. Thank you all for your hard work it was defiantly appreciated.

Amazing afternoon with friends

Today we visited The Bay Horse for  lunch . We were looked after by a lovely staff member ( sorry I didn’t get her name , she had very red hair and  we joked about it being to match the Autumnal decor accents in the dining area  😍) The menu choice was excellent, not too overwhelming but enough tasty and intriguing choices to make it difficult to decide on one …we were a party of 4 and everything we chose was delicious and beautifully presented ….presentation was Fine  Dining  standard. We are booked in again for Sunday lunch with friends who are visiting and we can’t wait .

We popped in for an early evening pub meal. The welcome was good and even though we hadn’t booked we were welcome to eat. We ordered two starters including a fish sharing platter. They were both very good and the beer on cask was very well presented and tasty.

Good food and welcome

Stayed as a couple 1 night. Room was excellent & a/c!.. it was an upstairs room and refurbished. Shower brilliant & nothing was bad.

Didnt eat in pub but breakfast was at nearby Goldborough Hall and food, service, setting exceptional. Its a short stroll (10 mins) either down the quiet lane or through the woods.

Weather was very hot so the a/c was a boon. The beer garden is great.

The only issue is one male member of staff was very unhelpful, sarcastic and to be honest, a bit strange with his treatment of female customers....... needs to be more customer focused. Other staff members very good so he spoils it.

Would stay again though and avoid him and his attitude......you know who you are!!

We’ve been to the Bay Horse a handful of times and can’t fault it really. Set in the lovely village of Goldsborough, it has a beautiful large beer garden which is never really busy. Food is great and reasonably priced, as are drinks. Service always really good too. We’ve never sat inside but it looks nice inside too. Defo my fave pub restaurant in the area 😊

The best beer garden in Yorkshire

We stayed here for a work gathering for 2 days. We had 3 rooms booked with staff staying in holiday cottages near by as the hotel was fully booked. Ann was very accommodating and provided breakfast for the extra guests who were staying elsewhere. Everything was perfect and we couldn’t fault our stay here. Thank you to everyone!
