This is the third occasion we have stayed at The Recruiting Sergeant and hopefully it won't be the last. We received a prompt and friendly check-in on arrival and were shown to our first-floor room which was a good size, as was the bathroom. Both were spotless and were kept that way for the duration of our 4 night stay. Overlooking the road caused us no concerns. Great choice of good quality food for breakfast and we had our evening meal there on 3 of the 4 nights. Superb choice of food and wine which us well-cooked, plentiful, and served by well-mannered and good-humoured staff.

Excellent base to explore North Norfolk. Very good dining experience.

I stopped for one night on business and found it to be a real gem. Lovely friendly team and amazing restaurant with high end menu choices and very well cheffed food. It was Tuesday evening and they looked fully booked for food which said a lot to me. Great selection of beers too. Parking on site was free and had a lovely breakfast in the morning nd great chat with the owner in relation to its aerospace connections. Overall would stay again 100%

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed here. The room we had overlooked the car park at the front but no problem whatsoever. Decent size room with good sized bathroom. Clean and tidy with good storage space. We first visited for an evening meal a few years ago and were impressed by both the welcome we got, and also the quality and variety of the food. Nothing has changed in that time with standards being just as high. Convenient for Norwich, the Broads and the coast, and serving an excellent breakfast, I can recommend The Recruiting Sergeant to anyone.

Great service friendly staff  ,lovely  bar restaurant and a great room for our stay. Room was on the front but there was no traffic noise disturbance overnight. Overall a Brilliant place to stay

Lovely Quaint Pub with High Standard of Dining

GREAT PLACE TO STAY

From a warm welcome on check in...shown to the room...then sat at the bar on my own as a lone worker away from home..was engaged in conversation by the staff to make me feel part of the furniture 😀 then about the food all i can say is WOW..fantastic great quality and portion sizes not for the faint hearted..good luck if you can eat 3 courses..then breakfast continues the theme..

Amazing

Fantastic B&B. Food was absolutely amazing but especially at dinner the portion sizes are too big for us. If you are a big eater then happy days but for us it was rather daunting. Beautifully cooked and an amazing choice though. Breakfast was lovely. Quite noisy in our room, although the room was very nice. Lots of noise from the road and from the cleaners downstairs from around 5 am!

Great B&B

Clean, nicely decorated rooms above the pub.   Loved the character of our room on the second floor in what have originally been the attic with exposed beams and sloping ceiling however this did make the fairly small room feel slightly cramped and might pose a challenge for taller guests or anyone staying for more than a night or two.  The pub is on a fairly busy road so expect some road noise especially on the few hot days we get each year - the fan in the room helped.  The pub was popular for food - large portions and friendly staff.  There is a nice good-sized outside eating area.  Carpet on the stairs leading to the rooms could do with a clean.

Enjoyable stay

Booked twin room through Hotels.com but, on arrival, we were informed only double (king size) beds. Door great - massive portions. Very popular location for food so book a table. Breakfast very good too. Best black pudding ever. Even if not home made the chef knew what to buy. Be aware it is a pub with rooms so no lift. Would stay again - if my wife could climb stairs easier. Thanks very much.

No lift but breakfast gives you a lift for the day

The staff are friendly, they were very prepared with COVID giving me a blanket and hot water bottle for eating outdoors. The room was small but i asked for a room with a bath and it didn't disappoint very perfect for a one night stay for one. The towels smelt amazing i love a good washing powder smell. The food was very nice and well presented. Would defo recommend.

Really nice stay

Lovely location and pub, the food was perfect and the breakfast was also great, would fully recommend this inn as a nice trip away, it’s very close to a lovely river walk that Nicola told us about. If you want to stay for dinner make sure you book ahead as it was completely booked up when we arrived As it’s so popular, but we had already seen another review mention this so we booked ahead. Shower en-suite was lovely and rooms were very modern and comfy beds. Thank you for a lovely stay.
