Time got away from me in Mandalay, had to ride a coach non stop via Inle Lake. So tired and so broken. Made it back here. Really lovely staff. Such a fantastic breakfast. Saved my life. I stayed in the small box room that backs onto the dinning room. It was verycomfortable.

We stayed three nights right after our arrival in Yangon and decided to go back for our last night before departure. It is true that the rooms are windowless but the friendliness of the staff and the home-cooked breakfasts make up for it. Every day, we have been served with a new breakfast freshly cooked by the hotel manager (for example we had: fried rice, japanese pickles and eggs; pumpkin soup, plain rice and vegetable curry, etc). For example, the hotel manager on our last night went down with us to get a taxi for 6000 kyats, which avoided us a hard-fought negotiation as the price for foreigners is usually set at 7000 kyats. The rooms are very clean and the wifi is free. It is located in the heart of the Indian district of Yangon, 5 minutes from Sule Paya. The neighborhood is very lively with many fruit / vegetable and street food stalls until 6/7 pm. All staff speak Japanese and English.

As the titles says it, this guest house is pretty nice. Nice staff, nice location, rooms are small but clean, with AC, mosquitos nets. The bathrooms are clean too. And the prices are fair. Breakfast included, not big though.

I spent 3 nights in total at Tokyo Guesthouse, 2 on the way in and 1 on the way back. There was a slight change of plan one the way back as my friend who was travelling with me didn't come back at the same time and although I'd booked a double room the owner was kind enough to move me into a a single room for $18 which saved me $4. The rooms are small indeed and basic but practical enough. Shared bathroom and toilets are clean enough, and the atmosphere is friendly and the staff very helpful. There is a common room where you have breakfast in the morning and where you can chill at anytime, exchange with fellow travelers , sip a Coke / beer.The breakfast is nice and healthy and different every day. They offer different types of services like bus ticket, washing machine facility... The location is good, we mostly walked during the day, it's about 12mn to Sule Pagoda and about 45 mn to the Shwedagon pagoda. All in all I would recommend Tokyo guesthouse for the younger travelers. The only unpleasant problem I came across was on the last night, one of the young staff is learning Spanish and he was revising his homework at a very loud voice until 12am which given the non soundproofing of the building was very uncomfortable to sleep!

Excactly what I needed.

Nice litte guest house.

Having chose here as my first night in yangon I immediately regretted my choice. There are better budget options than this. Paid $10 for a box fan room barely bug enough to fit a bed and my bag and the fan was so ill placed it barely did anything and even with the mosquito net and ill placed fan I was prime target for mosquito bites all night.
