Hotel Izukougen Monogatari

This small Inn is not only hotel but also a good restaurant equipped with real pizza oven made of bricks. The shop master is friendly and have profound knowledge for American & European cuisine. Pizza is definetly good but his hamburger grilled by this brik oven is something extremely delicious! Extremeky recommended!!

I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst diving locally. The couple that run the place are very nice and genuinely helpful. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. I stayed in a Japanese style room and slept well. The cafe/bar on the ground floor is a nice place to relaxin the evening.

Best pizza in Izu Kogen (or maybe Izu peninsula)

Decent stop

This hotel is manage by husband & wife together with their partner, none others helper seems to be involved, they are running the B&B as well as the adjacent cafe called Cafe Be. Apparently Cafe Be is famous amongst the local.

Anyhow, I arrived at the hotel at around 1030am. Soon after, the owner told me that their check in policy is 2pm and check out at 12pm. But he allow me to do early check in since the room is available. He politely asked me whether I would like to stay at tatami style room with no toilet inside only sink or western style room with a toilet inside at no additional cost. I politely told him that thanks for the nice gesture but I will take the tatami room with toilet outside. Then he took me for a tour, trying to explain where's and where's, especially the bathroom & the ofuro, the free self service drink counter that I can drink anything 24 hour from coke, water, tea, coffee, and cup noodle should I feel hungry at night. He also explained that breakfast is included and will be served at Cafe Be.

At night, I had dinner at Cafe Be, a steak set with rice, and bread. The taste is not bad, but a bit pricey.

The next morning, when I checked out, he offer to send me to the train station with his cute little Pajero.

We stayed in a western style double room that smelled of mould. The drain in the bathroom smelled awful and the bathroom was not cleaned. The bedroom was dirty as well. The host was overall very pushy although nice at times. The breakfast ok but found hairs in my salad one morning. The soundproofing was non-existent so the noise from the heavy traffic  just next to the hotel was a constant. 
The images at the hotels.com site does really not make justice to the run down hotel it in reality is.
