i was there 5 years ago. it is amazing what can be done with little effort and some funds... Saiman ranta becomes great place and spa center in the very beautiful part of the nature.First class spa center for people who wants to take a rest out of the rush...

Quite sympathetic place amidst the forests and lakes is located on the lakeshore of Saimaa in southern region of Finland not very far from russian border. The last one was our key reason to choose this place and it is good transit point on your way north. Despite the short stay we liked it here: pretty comfortable clean rooms, polite staff, excellent nature and air, good dinner with a view over the lake. Definetely can recommend it for the same reason we got here can't say anything about long-term stay here though.

Beautiful nature - pine trees, lake. A room in the style of a country house. Grilled sausages on the grill, all the facilities for this, just need to bring coals to take because the wood cost 10eur for a small box.

Holidays in the Lake District

We stayed in this hotel several times 15 years ago.  It was standard Finnish hotel with good location on the coast of Saima. The hotel had finnish service of standard level. 
Now the nature and the  lake are still wonderfull but service became Russian. If you know that it means, you will understand it. In other case the explanation will demand too much time. Short example: bar, restaraunt was closed all time and hotel service included only accomodation. As positive example I can draw attention that the quality of the building was still good. Concerning of cleanness of the room hadn't objection also .

15 years ago it was better

We were visiting our friends in the Taipalsaari region in July and they suggested to visit Hotel Saimaanranta for a play and swim on the beach and a meal in the restaurant. We took our kids, including a 4months old baby and enjoyed our time on the beach. After about an hour, a black car approached and out stepped a very angry lady, shouting with a Russian accent that this was a private beach and if we did not leave she would call the police. We could not believe how rude she was and it took quite a while to explain my British husband what was going on. The kids were most upset. There was no sign saying it was a private beach or no other warnings. We swiftly packed our bags and drove off. No need to treat people like that, keep away from this place, would not recommend it to anyone. Top class customer service (NOT) !!
