Y house Xiamen

My wife and I had a mid- September, 4- night visit, at the Y House on Xiamen Island. Our room was on the 2nd floor with balcony (nice sit.. legs up on the railing, sucking down a beer quality). The accommodation was basic, the room being very small, the bathroom "intimate", a glass wall w/ a pulldown curtain.. good thing being that it was just my wife & I! Our room was kept very clean during our stay. The mattress and bedding qualities were outstanding. Our bathroom shower featured a "rain showerhead" with a very good volume of hot water. We already knew that breakfast was not availble.. just an excellent tea, but there are any number of very good restaurants near, including a few that featuring outstanding seafood choices. Communication was no problem for English speaking visitors on our stay. The hotel personnel are available at all times, 24 hours a day. Oddly enough, as difficult the location this hotel is, we had no problems at all with taxis finidng it/ or near dropoff locations. Probably the best thing about our stay is that although the daytime temps were very high, the Y House and the adjoining area have tall older masonry buildings and lot of large deciduous trees. This very feature made daytime walking adventures doable on our stay. A walking adventure (Zhongshan Rd/ Park) and any number of excellent & near restaurants on Xiamen Island is what makes the Y House an excellent choice of stay.
