Taiyuan Economic Development Area Atour Hotel

After a good experience with the Pingyao (平遙古城) Atour Hotel，we seeked out another Atour Hotel when we returned to Taiyuan again in May (to catch connecting flight back to California), This Taiyuan Atour hotel is located in the new economic development area, very close to Foxconn Taiyuan factory - Apple's iPhone manufacturer in China. The hotel very close to Taiyuan airport - 12 minutes taxi ride; bus stop is 50 meters from hotel. We were warmly greeted by the two receptionists and welcome tea was quickly served during check-in. Our room was spacious and very clean; the king bed was comfortable with choice of two kinds of pillows. We received lots of local touring information. They even arranged "DiDi" ride sharing service (like Uber in the States). Very inexpensive, it cost us only USD 10 one way to visit 喬家大院 (Qiao Mansion), which is some 60 miles away. Of course，you have to pay admission fee when you get there. To enjoy this service though, you must have a local sim card in your phone! After the tour, we were tired but we're pleasantly surprised to find a fruit plate in our room. Night snack was also offered even though we declined because we were too tired and wanted to go to bed early instead. The next day, after touring the city on our own using Taiyuan excellent bus network. The bus fare is 1 yuan ($0.15 USD) each way. Returning to the hotel after the day long outing, we relaxed in their library and read a couple of their rare book collection. It was a different kind of hotel but we loved it. Going to the airport the next morning was eventless on the hotel arranged taxi for 24 yuan (4 USD). We will again stay in another Atour hotel when we visit Fuzhou in Fijian province in October.
